Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to Join the EMAS Clinical Audit and Research Unit to support pre-hospital care research.

The Trust has celebrated history of successful research output over recent years, demonstrated by a significant growth in academic partners, number of research studies supported and participants recruited to research.

EMAS is one of the leading UK research teams and is well well placed to deliver the highest quality research and evaluations in collaboration with academic and NHS partners, increasingly to develop a strategy to design and lead research studies from within the ambulance sector. The role will be to support the current research team, in the delivery of our current research programme,

We anticipate that several new data led studies will be rolled out in the next few months.

You will ensure that all studies are conducted in accordance with the study protocols and contracts as well as relevant legislation and national guidance. The post will require liaison with Trust Operational Staff and Management teams, the Clinical Audit & Research Team as well as partner universities and the other participating ambulance Trusts.

You will have an enthusiastic approach, an interest in pre-hospital research and a wish to shape the care provided to patients in the future.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a self motivated research manager who is educated to Masters level or equivalent experience who is highly literate and numerate, and looking for the next challenge in your career

The successful candidate will be required to work across both the clinical audit and research function, leading a small team in delivering research, evaluation and bespoke clinical audits.

A knowledge of Research governance and HRA guidance/requirements is essential.

Main responsibilities (in summary) will include:

  • To support the Head of clinical Audit and research and Deputy Head of Clinical Audit and Research in the development and implementation of the Trusts Research Strategy ensuring that all research governance requirements are met.
  • Develop, manage, facilitate, and evaluate clinical audit projects.
  • Develop and maintain information processing systems, which ensure the production of timely, ad hoc, and routine reports to support the needs of the Trust.
  • To extract and provide analysis, investigation and interpretation of complex statistical/analytical/research and clinical audit data which can be used to create accurate reports.
  • Assist in and contribute to the development of strategies, local policies and procedures, and action plans in relation to new government relevant information.
  • Organisation and maintenance of the EMAS research databases, and those externally whereby access is available and that require updating regularly according to study, protocol, processes, or procedures.
  • Upload recruitment accruals to be included for local, study specific and regional reporting.
  • To facilitate meetings, produce and provide minutes/reports to the members and key stakeholders.
  • Produce honorary contracts and/or research passports for researchers who require one under the latest guidance issued by the Department of Health.
