Research intensity is one of our three core strategic priorities, delivered through a researcher centric approach via our Faculty Research and Innovation Offices who provide exceptional end to end research and innovation support to our academic community.

About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Development Manager to lead a dedicated, specialist team providing research development support to a highly professional standard for academics in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. You will personally focus on developing high quality, high value strategic bids, building strong relationships with key academics, whilst leading a team providing expert bid and costing guidance across a broad range of applications to a variety of funders including government funding bodies, industry and charitable organisations. You will interact with academic and professional services colleagues across the university in supporting interdisciplinary collaboration and will interrogate research performance data, developing insights to inform and support faculty leadership decisions.
About you

  • Professionally qualified with a relevant degree/post graduate qualification with relevant research/industry or research funding environment.
  • A highly confident communicator and demonstrate effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent understanding of emerging research funding priorities and trends and be adept at horizon scanning and sharing funding intelligence.
  • Able to look at a complex scenario and draw out the essentials - and be absolutely focused on doing what it takes to deliver a successful outcome.
  • Truly collegiate, able to demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
