What you'll be doing

As a Renewals Manager , you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Assist the Head of Operations in managing the Renewals teams to plan works to meet or better tendered margins. Ensure changes to scope and specification are managed and that Risk/Change Registers are robustly maintained. Participate and contribute to the development of works in line with Network Rails Grip 4 Track process and ensure KPIs and KRAs are met.
  • Prepare methodologies, resource requirements, estimates and plans to ensure safe and cost-effective delivery of the works, and to allow the
    Planning and Logistics Manager to plan for fluctuations.
  • Hold Whiteboard/Stage Gate meetings in accordance with CRSA Track Renewals Procedure producing the required outputs to support effective and robust delivery of the works to completion.
  • Ensure agreed performance and other KRAs and KPIs are met.
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in accordance with conditions of contract, health and safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Manage the preparation of all Work Package Plans, Task Briefs and other required documentation to the required standard and timescale. Ensure all Health & Safety Files are completed.
  • Manage the welfare of assigned staff and participate with human resources as required. Ensure all staff are trained and competent to undertake their duties.
  • Monitor the progress and costs of the works, preparing contributing to
    report as required.
  • Direct and monitor the performance of all assigned staff under your
    control.
  • Participate in the Human Resource issues to ensure these are closely aligned with the delivery of the contract.
  • Promote and ensure safe working practices in accordance with the appropriate safety legislation.
  • Undertake investigation of accidents, incidents and other non- conformances, preparing reports and making recommendations
  • Review completed works to ensure Best Practice and Lessons Learnt
    activities are captured, recorded and utilised in future work planning and execution.
  • Assist with the provision of technical and delivery support to the Track
    and Drainage Senior Engineer, Senior Supervisor and Renewals
    Manager Team as required.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • H.N.C. in an engineering discipline and or several years experience in a
    management post.
  • Knowledge of Track Renewal processes, operational railway and associated safety matters.
  • Is strongly focused on developing a customer focused and responsive
    team that can deliver the contract.
  • Understands the need to introduce best practice and continuous improvement culture and has a clear vision of how the Division would operate in such an environment.
  • Possesses sound knowledge of strategic issues applicable to Renewals Contract, such as Company objectives, market conditions, competitor activity and customer needs. Able to make a full contribution to strategic debate in a multi-functional group.
  • Able to decide, formulate and communicate policy.
  • Adopts a logical and decisive approach to decision making.
  • Gathers and analyses information. Generates possible solutions. Assesses impact of potential courses of action.
