What's the site like?
- 18 Acre site running a 24/7 Operation with 4 rotational crews.
- It has 2 Bottling, 2 Canning lines and 1 Kegging production line.
- There are 90+ SKUs with 16 different Beer/Liquid types, producing an average of 23 million cases per annum.
- We operate Guinness packaging facilities at Marshalls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Runcorn, in Northwest England, producing canned, bottled and kegged product for Ireland, UK and export markets. Significant investment is underway at both locations.
About the Role
As the Manufacturing Reliability Engineer at Diageo's Beer Packaging Site, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability across our site. You will accurately record and report the outcomes of any maintenance problems via our maintenance systems to facilitate the sharing of standard processes.
Key Responsibilities include;
- You will play a vital role to the achievement and improvement of Asset Care key performance matrix through the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability across site.
- You will review and contribute to the Reliability centered maintenance (RCM) studies on your lines, ensuring criticality assessments are up to date and ensuring failure modes are addressed in our maintenance plans.
- You will review and improve our maintenance strategy, ensuring we are a proactive and condition-based engineering department as opposed to preventative and reactive.
- You will review major breakdowns ensuring these are root caused, linking these back into the maintenance plan to identify gaps.
- You will use data analysis to scope and deliver 'improvement projects' which support compliance, waste, cost and performance reliability through continuous improvement in all lines integrating with key site leader objectives.
- You will participate with information sharing and team working, supporting any activities undertaken within the company including providing technical knowledge, One point lessons (OPLs) and collaborating with Original equipment manufacturer (OEMs) to drive effective solutions.
- You will be responsible for supporting capital work, including installation, commissioning and testing within area as required and will be responsible for feeding into early equipment management.
- You will proactively work with Operators, Engineers and team leaders to play a pivotal role in situational problem solving. Resolving problems and finding solutions via root-cause problem solving (RCPS), reducing repeat failures.
- You will engage in Daily Tier meetings and performance-based consolations to raise and address persistent performance issues
- You will be key in anticipating issues and be more proactive in approach, leading active solution driven initiatives with the wider engineering team
- You may also give technical support during major breakdowns and during machine set ups and overhauls

- Experience working in FMCG/manufacturing or similar environment.
- Familiar with Reliability maintenance best practices.
- Work well in a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where they can tackle problems.
- Have excellent communication and influencing skills and are able to push forward your own ideas about improvements to current approaches and appraise new opportunities.
- Have the strive to make a positive difference to manufacturing excellence.
- Are a time served mechanical or electrical engineer or technician with an understanding of the opposite core skill and have relevant qualifications and proven knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and environmental risk principles.
