Role: Regulatory Compliance Assurance Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

Location: Southampton

The Regulatory Compliance Assurance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring our clients' products comply with regulatory requirements. This position serves as the key point of contact between both parties to guarantee product conformity and ensure compliance throughout their lifecycle.

You will coordinate a global overview of regulatory compliance and product stewardship practices, closely collaborating with stakeholders to embed Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) activities within our product development processes.

With expertise in various product safety regulations, but not limited to cosmetics, toys, textiles, food, food supplements, electronics, general product categories, chemicals, medical equipment and other CE and non-CE mark categories.

By doing so, you will position AVASK as a trusted partner in regulated spaces. Our regulatory affairs team ensures that our clients' products and their development, testing, and marketing steps meet legislative requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the work of the Regulatory Compliance team to ensure full compliance of our client's products with applicable standards and directives.
  • Be a subject matter expert on product safety, product regulation compliance and best practices and provide regulatory compliance assurance advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the compliance monitoring methodology, framework, and tools including verifying and maintain technical documentation including Declaration of Conformity for 10 years from the last marketing unit.
  • Lead the creation of technical risk assessments, declarations of conformity and testing of products for marketability for our clients to ensure the records are accurate and stored correctly for both public and protected access.
  • Manage the legal process of products released at the first stage of import from evaluating the product compliance with EU, and national legislations/standards, verifying features and specifications from manufacturer, identifying standards and directives to be applied, assess technical documentations, conduct sample evaluation with laboratories, and emit TCF (Technical Construction File) and Declaration of Conformity.
  • Inspection of batch in factory and/or verification of production alongside ad-hoc sample testing of products.
  • Coordinating with customers and third parties (such as test laboratories, safety experts and Notified Bodies) in the work to be performed e.g. project management, discussing technical problems, explaining procedures and requirements to be followed, etc.
  • Lead H&S Audits, including providing all necessary information and documentation to prove the conformity of products to the competent authorities, follow up and action plan any recommendations found.
  • Collaboration with clients on non-compliant products to provide corrective action plans to any non-compliance to eliminate risks.
  • Escalating and following up on any compliance issues, breaches, or incidents and ensuring that appropriate remedial actions are taken.
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to business on how to improve their compliance performance and culture.
  • Drive positive behaviours and culture within the business by promoting best practice and delivering continuous improvement.
  • Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations regarding product safety and CE certification and monitor industry change; impact assess change and ensure relevant change are routed to the correct teams for actioning.
  • Act as a main point of contact for relevant industry bodies.

Key knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Relevant degree in a subject such as Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Medicinal Chemistry, Biomedical Science, Life or Applied Science.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislative regulations relating to Quality, Information Security, GDPR, H&S,GSPI, Product labels.
  • Up-to-date regulatory knowledge on RoHS, General Product Safety Regulation.
  • Knowledge of European Safety Directives such as RED 2014/53/EU, EMC 2014/30/EU, LVD 2014/35/EU, TOYS 2009/48/EC, RoHS 2011/65/UE, ErP 2009/125/EC, REACH 1907/2006.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a product compliance assurance field or similar.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing compliance programs and controls.
  • Affinity with engineering or product safety, able to read, understand, interpret and apply technical files, regulations and guidelines.
  • Highly organised, efficient and diligent.
  • Strong ability to prioritise workload and multitask between projects and tasks.
  • Able to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Expertise in Product Compliance for online retailers.
