Base Location:Aberdeen, Perth, Inverness. Hybrid working with a split between home and office is available for this role to support your work/life balance.

Salary:£55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

SSEN Transmission is experiencing significant growth driven by the need to connect considerable volumes of renewable generation onto our network to facilitate the pathway to Net Zero.

Our regulation team is crucial in developing and delivering transmission infrastructure in the North of Scotland. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for advising the SSEN Transmission Board and Executive Committee on external and internal factors affecting our regulatory strategy, programme delivery and business performance.

You will lead teams and establish effective collaboration, to develop and deliver the regulatory frameworks to attract the investment needed for a net zero power system including the outcomes from Government Mission Control to deliver clean power by 2030.

The role will also lead and oversee development of regulatory policy across several critical workstreams seeking outcomes aligned with the SSEN Transmission strategy. You will have responsibility to lead the development and delivery of regulatory arrangements working with Ofgem and other stakeholders.

The Key Responsibilities of a Regulation Manager include:

- Obtain necessary funding from Ofgem under the ASTI framework and broader Price Control Frameworks to achieve our strategic goals.

- Oversee the creation of regulatory policies through team research and analysis, advocating for our strategic objectives.

- Manage and coordinate regulatory projects to ensure timely and successful outcomes, providing support across the business and the SSE Group, while also managing your team.

- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, especially Ofgem, by engaging regularly, responding to industry consultations, and representing SSEN Transmission at industry forums.

- Provide coaching and guidance to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members and others within SSEN Transmission. Manage a small team of industry experts, focusing on their continuous development and growing team capability.

In meeting your responsibilities, you will be given unyielding support from your colleagues in the Regulation Team as well as wider from your wider SSEN Transmission colleagues.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in utility regulation, ideally with a degree in Economics, Business, Science, Engineering, or Law.

- Understanding of the GB energy regulatory framework, the energy sector, key stakeholders, and the policy landscape, including political and policy impacts on regulated companies.

- Ability to identify problems, determine causes, propose solutions, and implement them using logical and analytical reasoning.

- Strong communication and writing skills to articulate complex issues clearly and accurately. Ability to work outside your area of expertise, engaging with experts to gather and present information for investment cases, policy development, and strategy.

- Experience leading expert teams on bespoke projects, ideally with line management experience.
