Registered Manager (Children's Home)

Salary: Band 13, £57,578 to £64,473 per annum. A relocation package of up to £8,000 is available to eligible applicants.

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)

The Service:

Portsmouth City Council's Children's Services team has been rated as 'good' overall, following an inspection from Ofsted in May 2023. The report published on 3 July 2023 finds that most children in Portsmouth receive a good service and for some it is outstanding.

Tangier Road Children's Home was inspected by Ofsted in May 2023 and found to be rated overall 'good' including in how well children and young people are helped and protected and the effectiveness of leaders and managers.

Your New Role:

As the Registered Manager you will lead and manage Tangier Road Children's Home which is a five-bedroom detached property situated on Portsea Island in Portsmouth. In this challenging, yet extremely rewarding role, you will ensure compliance with statutory guidance and local policies and procedures so that the children receive safe, nurturing, and holistic care to meet their needs. You will oversee the home, identify and address any concerns or gaps for development, manage budgets, and oversee safeguarding, health and safety, professional boundaries, and staff development and training.

What you'll need to succeed:

You are of 'integrity and good character', with the required experience, skills and qualifications to comply with the Ofsted 'fitness to practice' requirements to become a registered manager. You have a strong proven background of working with children in residential care settings, and of managing and supervising a team of staff supporting children. You are a confident and competent leader who models the values and behaviours that are consistent with delivering our vision. You promote staff learning and development, use authority appropriately, and have good organisational, communication and IT skills. You demonstrate a healthy professional curiosity and generosity of spirit to ensure that vulnerable children and their family receive support and intervention to be safe, well, valued and respected.
