We are looking to offer a Regional Transport Manager the opportunity to join our expanding Fleet Department, Compliance team based in Bellshill, Scotland.

About the team

The Fleet Department, Compliance Team are responsible for Road Transport Compliance across the business. This role will work on our Energy Division SPEN contract.

About the role

As the Regional Transport Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and managing Road Transport Operations in your area of responsibility, identifying any risks to the business, reporting to the Senior Regional Transport Manager in your region and working closely with the wider Transport Operations Compliance Team to drive continual improvement.

You must be prepared to travel and stay overnight in hotels on occasions.

As the Regional Transport Manager, you'll get the opportunity to:

  • Ensure effective and continuous control is being maintained of M Group Services commercial vehicles & assets, paying particular attention to those vehicles on the Operator Licence (s) you are named on, and that no business unit breach the margin (s) on the licence (s) at any operating centre.
  • Implement robust business unit communications, continuous and effective management & control of vehicles & drivers in line with undertakings, whilst building & maintaining a good working relationship with your Line Manager & wider stakeholders to ensure Road Transport Operations are delivered in line with current Policies and a clear and consistent message is being delivered on the way we work in respect of continuous and effective transport management.
  • Ensure you provide support, advice & guidance on all aspects of Road Transport Operations, Occupational Road Risk & any Transport accreditations to those Managers & Supervisors responsible for putting vehicles and drivers to work within the Business Unit, ensuring compliance with Group Transport Operations Policy's.
  • Ensure commercial drivers' complete the induction & all driver and vehicle compliance records are maintained in accordance with GTO Policies, ensuring all vehicles and drivers are on Key 2 & MID, scheduled maintenance events are completed on the agreed date/time and they comply with DVSA's guide to maintaining roadworthiness - (GTMR).
  • Ensure commercial drivers' complete daily check's on vehicles & report any defects found and record their daily drivers hours as per GTO Policy, all data is analysed for non-compliance or trends and any training gaps are closed out accordingly.
  • Work with the business unit to ensure vehicle telematics are fitted and data is monitored and analysed. Any driver Infringements are dealt with promptly and you work with the wider group to improve occupational road risk.

What you'll bring?

  • National CPC Holder, with experience of managing a large diverse fleet.
  • Strong background in dealing with complex issues and or requirements.
  • Capability to take ownership, responsibility, and work as part of a team to deliver high standards.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure to strict deadlines and be prepared to travel.
  • Computer literate and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and as a minimum hold a category B Licence.
