About the role.

A key part of the Network Leadership team, this role executes the overall operational objectives set by the executive SMT

You will take operational leadership and budget responsibility for managing a safe and efficient operation across a geographical Region of the UK. Focusing on service provision and operating cost management through the Region by management of assets, people and contractors. You will develop the Site management team and will be required to interact with all support functions & assist the commercial team to develop & gain new business as appropriate.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ensure adequate security measures are in place to protect the operation, including the safety of personnel, company assets and of the customer's product for the operation within the Region
  • Responsible for the overall annual performance of the operation within the Area, including achievement of agreed internal & customer KPIs, delivering operation budget and other internal KPIs (eg. safety, operational, employee related etc.). Ensure all sites within the Area monitor & achieve all internal audits. Ensure all corporate sites in the Area have a formal meeting to discuss cost, service, staff, etc. AOB
  • Ensures the operation complies with company regulations & local statutory obligations & legislation with regard to Safety, Health & Quality. Analyses and understands risks and takes action/ensures measures are put in place to reduce or eliminate them

  • Ensure adequate security measures are in place to protect the operation, including the safety of personnel, company assets and of the customer's product for the operation within the Region
  • Manage the overall approach to resource planning and management, ensuring that processes are in place, teams are recruited, assessed, trained and resources are planned to meet the forecasted volume and managed to achieve optimum performance
  • Support development of overall Ops plan and ensure execution of plan
  • Establishes effective cost control mechanisms to ensure delivery of overall cost budget for the Area
  • Ensure timely reporting processes are in place and corrective actions are taken for performance deviation(s) against the annual plan

What are the requirements?

  • At least 5 years' relevant experience in senior operational leadership role
  • Experience managing and leading teams through expertise in most or all areas within operations
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK parcels / mail / logistics delivery market
