AECOM Lighting provides comprehensive lighting design services on a broad range of projects and sectors worldwide. We are currently recruiting for a Regional Director, to be based in the UK.

We are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious and creative individual to work alongside our experienced lighting designers and engineers as part of independent projects as well as within a multidisciplinary environment. This is a senior consultancy-based position requiring demonstrable experience within a client focused environment.

Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position and this position will be well suited to an experienced consultant with a proven track record in project delivery, team development, work winning and client management who is looking to take the next step or someone with a desire to work in multi-disciplinary design consultancy and wants to join an established lighting team.

What you'll do!

A large part of your role will be client facing, identifying new leads and securing new and repeat business. Your role will involve coordination and integration with wider AECOM business lines to maximise opportunities within the UK and internationally.

You will work as part of our design team helping to lead, manage and deliver lighting design packages. You will be familiar with relevant industry standards and good practice and be able to implement applicable design criteria and have the skills to help develop a project from concept through to technical design and support commissioning and completion.

Knowledge of specialist areas including architectural lighting, lighting masterplanning, public realm lighting, Smart lighting controls, planning, and low carbon design are a plus.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead project delivery and quality and budget management on mid to large size projects nationally and internationally.
  • Understand how to negotiate contracts and ensures that contract obligations and/or milestones are tracked and met.
  • Manage and plan the activities of a group of design personnel, technicians and specialists.
  • Provide leadership and direction to technical staff or leads efforts to grow technical expertise
  • Participate in the professional development plans for staff and encourage expansion of expertise in different sectors.
  • Assist in training and mentoring of staff to ensure technical development of the team.
  • Support, train and mentor junior staff.
  • Become accredited with AECOM project delivery and quality assurance systems.
  • Lead technical client relationships and play a role in attracting new work/ clients.
  • Ensure implementation of all AECOM Heath & Safety policies
  • Ensure that good client working relationships are maintained.
  • Promote AECOM and the Lighting Design team and realise internal and external growth opportunities.
  • Develop and assist implementing a marketing strategy with a focus on interactive and collaborative communications with clients.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • You will be a results driven and motivated individual with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
  • You will be able to analyse complex issues and be accountable in solving challenging problems
  • Work collaboratively with the ability to make autonomous decisions in line with policies, procedures in support of business strategy
  • Extensive knowledge in working in the UK and internationally.
  • Experience working in a lighting design consultancy across a number of market sectors and have a proven track record in project delivery, team development, work winning and client management. Experience with a large multi-discipline environment is a plus.
  • Experience in managing teams (internal and sub-consultants) and ability to act as technical lead in focus areas.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues.
  • In depth knowledge of common UK standards and guidance.
  • A university degree in interior design, architecture or electrical engineering (A degree or certification in lighting is a plus).
  • Be able to use lighting design and calculation tools: DiaLux, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-up, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of other graphic and visual design tools are a plus
  • Knowledge of Rhino, 3DS Max and other three dimensional design tools are a plus
  • Member status of relevant institution, i.e MCIBSE, MILP, etc.

Desirable attributes:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng of either CIBSE or ILP), or ability to obtain chartership within 12 months
  • International Experience is a plus.
