What you'll be doing:
The Risk & Assurance (Hazardous Waste) Advisor is critical to supporting the hazardous waste business on Risk & Assurance matters. The role reports to the R&A Manager and has a southern counterpart. You'll be part of a close knit team looking to support the division through a period of growth while improving our risk culture. You'll have a number of important duties, some of which are below:
- Act as a trusted advisor on process safety and health & safety across COMAH sites.
- Carry out assurance visits, monitor progress, and drive improvements with site teams.
- Support and challenge stakeholders to manage risks effectively and build resilience.
- Lead and support investigations, hazard studies, Human Factors Studies, COMAH preparations and management incident reviews.
- Share lessons learned and promote best practice to shape a proactive safety culture.
- Build strong relationships across the business - from operators to site managers to directors.
What we're looking for:
Essential
- Process safety management expertise, ideally with COMAH experience.
- Knowledge of key safety topics: DSEAR, human factors, hazard studies, functional safety.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and hands-on H&S experience.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge and support at all levels.
- Motivation to drive improvements and embed a proactive risk culture.
Desirable
- Experience in hazardous waste, technical safety, or an engineering background
