Job Title: Quality Risk Manager (QRM) EMEA Tax

Location: UK, Netherlands, Spain or Germany

Job Type: We are open to Part time or Full Time, 60-100%.

In today's increasingly complex global tax environment, having international reach, a strong local presence and the right expertise is critical to the successful execution of all client tax affairs. Our growing team have a new requirement for a Quality Risk Manager to join the team. The Quality Risk Manager (QRM) will be responsible for overseeing and managing the quality risk management processes within the EMEA Tax Practice at Alvarez and Marsal. The QRM will propose and assist with the development of solutions for the enhancement of quality processes, practices and contracting. Engaging/collaborating with other SMEs to solve complex problems in accordance with A&Ms guidelines and procedures.

The QRM will function as a point of contact for the review, and resolutions of contractual and general risk management related queries, with varying levels of complexity This role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact product quality and compliance with regulatory standards. The QRM will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that quality risk management practices are integrated into all aspects of the business.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • You should be able to demonstrate: an understanding of the principles of risk management, with an ability to break down complex queries with a view to seeking resolution and mitigation.
  • You will have intellectual agility to understand and solve complex risk/contracting problems using commercial awareness.
  • You will collaborate with key stakeholders and influence the successful design and implementation of quality and risk management practices.
  • You will be approachable, supportive, responsive and yet be prepared to make complex decisions on the application of contractual, regulatory and risk principles.
  • You will be a pragmatic problem solver. A drive to continuously build and master key technical, functional and professional skills.
  • You will be a self-starter and motivated.
  • You will proactively engage and collaborate with a global team to drive initiatives and ensure alignment across regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of quality risk management policies and procedures.
  • Will need to conduct risk assessments and identify potential quality risks.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of risk management activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Providing training and guidance to managing directors and staff on quality risk management practices.
  • Preparation and presentation of risk management reports to senior management.
  • Staying updated on industry trends and best practices in quality risk management.
  • Responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining comprehensive quality assurance manuals that outline procedures, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency and and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing standardisation processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in quality risk management or a related role in the Big 4/professional services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A background or experience working in Tax (e.g. ICAEW/CPA/tax lawyer) ) is highly desirable.
