DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To support the Department in the administration, monitoring & implementation of
the Quality Management agenda. To oversee Quality & Compliance related activities and ensure they are carried out as a minimum requirement, in accordance with appropriate accreditation or regulatory bodies (e.g. CQC and Quality Surveillance Programme).
• To assist with the identification and establishment of quality objectives and quality indicators, including formulating a plan for achieving these against appropriate and relevant timescales
• To be responsible for the planning, organising and execution of an effective audit schedule for the department, with support for other group aligned departments where necessary. To be responsible for the preparation, administration, dissemination and routine review of the quality agenda
• To be responsible for retaining, maintaining and continuously improving, the
Quality Management Service

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria

  • Relevant technical or professional qualification
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent experience/training
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable criteria

  • ECDL or equivalent experience
  • Healthcare related management qualification or training

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable success in working for a complex organization including experience in: - change management - protocol and policy development and implementation - risk management - training and education

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience in improvement projects
  • Understanding of wider health economy
  • Previous achievements in change management in NHS

SKILLS

Essential criteria

  • Good organizational skills with the ability to problem solve/negotiate Leadership skills
  • Ability to lead by example
  • Ability to develop p several projects in parallel
  • Ability to prioritise against tight deadlines
  • Ability to accommodate steep learning curves
  • Excellent verbal , reporting and presentation skills
  • Proactive self-starter
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Able to act and communicate confidently in stressful situations
  • Able to influence, even within a complex and challenging environment
  • Excellent IT skills

KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria

  • An understanding of Trust policies
  • An understanding of the principles of quality management and peer review accreditation process
  • NHS/Cancer Plans
  • Clinical Governance
  • An understanding of and experience in the application of PSIRF

Desirable criteria

  • NICE guidance on improving outcomes
  • Knowledge of NHS/Cancer services provided in Trus
  • Working knowledge of the collaborative approach to improvement
