Job Description

The Quality & Assurance team is responsible for the Heathrow Solutions' approach to Quality management, with a specific focus on driving quality implementation throughout the programme and project gateway processes, with scope across Heathrow as well as Heathrow's supply chain.

The Quality Manager is a pivotal role in continuing the transformation of the Heathrow Solutions' approach to quality management.

The Quality Manager will assist the Head of Quality & Assurance with the implementation of quality management principles, policies and requirements across the portfolio so that Heathrow gets right first-time performance, which supports the delivery and demonstration of capital efficiency in Heathrow's Capital Investment Portfolio.

The scope and complexity of Heathrow's strategic programmes means this role requires possession of strong leadership and high energy to inspire and work with the Programme & Projects team.

This role will be required to advise and influence a broad spectrum of colleagues across Heathrow, particularly Directors, Programme and Project Managers, and Quality Leads within the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Having responsibility for the maintenance of Heathrow's Quality framework to support effective Quality Management across the portfolio and promoting awareness of this framework and providing guidance on its implementation. As well promoting the key benefits of a Quality approach, this framework must support the delivery and demonstration of Capital Efficiency.
  • Implement an appropriate Quality regime to ensure the employer's requirements with respect to quality are applied consistently across Heathrow's Capital Investment Portfolio.
  • Working with the Heathrow Portfolio Management Office (HPMO) leadership team and other senior stakeholders, such as Information Management and Safety leadership, to ensure that the Programme Governance Framework (PGF) and Heathrow Gateway Lifecycle (HGL) provide an efficient, intelligent and progressively assured lifecycle that is embedded across the portfolio.
  • Through effective application of Quality practice, contribute to ensuring that Safety Performance across the business is optimised.
  • Responsible for leading and supporting other Quality Managers, Assurance Managers, and support staff across the Quality & Assurance team.

Qualifications

  • A Quality Management Professional with extensive practical experience in managing a Quality Management System gained in large complex environments.
  • Strong relationship builder with ability to influence senior business leaders both internally and externally.
  • Able to work with ambiguity, with strong resilience and determination to succeed in challenging business environment.
  • Experience as a successful team leader and / or line manager.
  • Ability to deliver in a difficult, complex and demanding business and ability to operate in complex environments.
  • CQI Chartered status or CQI Practitioner working towards being Chartered.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Ideally ISO9001 Lead Auditor trained with several years experience implementing and managing a quality audit process
  • Experience in engineering, operations and / or project and programme management experience is advantageous.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
