About us

The Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) at King's College London (KCL) brings together three units, King's Foundations, King's Language Centre and Summer Programmes. CIEL is seeking to recruit a Quality Assurance Manager to lead on Quality Assurance across all 3 units and deliver high-quality service for the CIEL community of practitioners.

CIEL is based on the Strand Campus in Bush House, Southeast Wing.

About the role

The role holder will plan and proactively manage the annual quality cycle for CIEL's portfolio of programmes and modules and manage operational processes across the academic cycle ensuring that they are conducted in a timely and accurate manner and reviewed regularly with a focus on continuous enhancement of the student experience.

This is an exciting role that has responsibility for delivering key aspects of KCL's Education Strategy, Student Futures and managing annual curriculum reviews. The post holder will provide operational advice and guidance to academic and professional services staff as well as being the main conduit with central teams and departments regarding Quality Assurance.

The role holder will have expert knowledge of quality assurance in higher education. They will have a proactive approach to leadership with strong experience of overseeing high performing teams.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. This post can be hybrid with the option of 2 days working from home if desired.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

2. Substantial experience in a higher education administration environment; with an emphasis on managing quality assurance provision.

3. Experience of servicing committees and in-depth governance knowledge so as to be able to support CIEL in a comprehensive manner.

4. Experience of managing a quality assurance audit or periodic review events.

5. Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills including influencing and negotiating with a range of stakeholders with the ability to form strong professional networks including an ability to translate complex regulations, processes and information in suitable formats for a variety of audiences.

6. Experience of managing projects and managing change, including developing innovative solutions, contributing positively to implementing change and practical implementation of change.

7. Experience of improving the student experience including knowledge of how ableism, racism, sexism, and other forms of marginalisation affect quality assurance processes.

8. Awareness and understanding of higher education policies, the regulatory environment and current issues within the sector, and experience of working within regulatory and statutory frameworks.
