Job Description

As a Quality Assurance Manager you will join our Crawley team to support within the defence sector. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance related to naval systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards specific to defence and naval systems.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality management system to ensure consistent product quality and reliability.
  • Lead and manage a team of quality assurance professionals, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and procurement, to identify quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of production processes, supplier facilities, and product components to verify compliance with quality requirements.
  • Investigate root causes of quality non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions to address systemic issues.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required:

  • Exposure to quality assurance in industry, 5 years +
  • Knowledge of defence standards, particularly AQAP standards
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 either as an auditor or a quality system manager.
  • Exposure to IPC standards.
  • Knowledge of electrical assembly and test processes.
  • HNC/HND/Degree in engineering or scientific subject.
  • Trained ISO Auditor (not necessarily qualified).
  • Professional quality qualifications, e.g. 6 Sigma, Lean.
