An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with Walsall Council's Admissions & Education Sufficiency Team for a Pupil Place Planning Manager.

About the job

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with schools and education settings, understands the delivery of school places and has an awareness of pupil place numbers and the statutory requirements of the Local Authority to ensure the delivery of suitable school places.

About you

The successful candidate would join the Admissions & Education Sufficiency Team and work closely with schools that are being expanded to provide additional school places for Walsall children.

  • To provide strategic guidance on place requirement by providing up-to-date specialist advice on all matters related to the council's statutory responsibilities for school admissions, appeals, children missing education, school organisation and related attendance processes including pupil place planning for EY, SENDI and mainstream pupils
  • To manage, monitor and evaluate associated resources to ensure they are well used and represent value for money, in line with local policy and procedure
  • Lead and maintain effective procedures and practices in all aspects of service provision including professional supervision arrangements, safe working practices and employment procedures.
  • To liase with Ofsted, DfE and Regional Partners to ensure sufficiency is delivered within expected timeframes and meets statutory requirements
