Publicity Manager (6 month contract) - DK Brand and Communications

Are you a passionate and creative individual who loves bringing books to life for young readers? Do you have a knack for generating excitement and sparking conversations around children's books? If so, we're looking for a talented Publicity Manager to join our dynamic team at DK.

In this role, you will play a vital role in driving sales and raising brand awareness for our children's books. Working in the brand and communications team you will have the opportunity to develop and execute innovative publicity campaigns, work with key stakeholders, and generate impactful press coverage across all media channels and events. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the success of our children's books and get them into the hands of the right audience.

Amongst the typical duties like developing and executing comprehensive publicity campaigns for children's books you will be:

  • Writing compelling press releases, promotional copy, and other marketing materials.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, including marketing, brand, and social media, to create integrated campaigns.
  • Monitoring and analysing campaign performance to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, librarians, retailers, and industry influencers.
  • Secure feature and review coverage in key media outlets, including traditional and digital platforms.
  • Organising and attending industry events, conferences, author events, and book launches.

As a Publicity Manager, you'll need a passion for children's entertainment brands and a strong understanding of the children's book market.We are seeking a motivated self-starter who is eager to contribute to discussions and share fresh ideas.

You'll possess a keen eye for detail, be adaptable to creative changes, and excel as a team player and communicator. Your ability to meet deadlines and build strong working relationships will be crucial. You will also have excellent presentation skills and experience working with external licensing partners.

Key Requirements:

  • A proven track record of generating eye-catching, stand out PR coverage and events, ideally at a trade publishing house
  • Strong attention to detail, with an understanding of the elements need to make a title commercially successful
  • Detailed working knowledge of PR and strong, established media connections
  • Motivated to develop own understanding of the media and the wider children's book market
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, ability to prioritise busy workload
  • Excellent communication and people skills at all levels and ability to build and maintain first-rate relationships with external and external contacts as well as the ability to speak confidently and pitch ideas in internal and external meetings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/negotiation skills
  • Results-driven, with an ability to analyse effectiveness of campaigns against budget and sales
  • Sociable, confident, enthusiastic and self-motivated team player

This role is perfect for an expert organiser who can manage a busy and varied workload while juggling multiple deadlines. Your ability to generate new ideas and collaborate effectively with our Design, marketing, Social Media, and wider children's team will be crucial in achieving our marketing objectives
