Job Description

Block is seeking an extraordinary Public Policy Manager to join our UK Public Policy team. In this role you will help develop Block's policy and public affairs strategy across the entire Block ecosystem. You will be deeply involved in the key issues at the forefront of financial services and technology policy; including payments, consumer credit, small business and digital assets.

Working with our UK Head of Public Policy, You will:

  • Develop and implement Block's public policy strategy across Block's products, including Square, Cash App, Clearpay, TIDAL, Bitkey and TBD.
  • Represent Block with government officials, regulators and other key external stakeholders. This includes leading external discussions on key areas of focus for the business.
  • Develop and produce research, government submissions and other public policy material. This includes detailed and analytical analysis of Block's regulatory environment.
  • Manage and support Block's broader external engagement, including participation in industry events and media engagement.
  • Manage key cross-functional projects and research programs. This includes managing relationships and project managing work with third-party consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage partnerships that demonstrate Block's commitment to economic empowerment - e.g. charities, business groups, trade associations and other third-parties.
  • Manage Block's policy horizon scanning and regulatory change monitoring program for the UK and EU.

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5+ years experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, government relations and/or legal roles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Sound and practical business judgment, intellectual creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in project management and delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree in law, economics, public policy or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in financial services legal and/or regulatory roles is preferred.
