LPR International is seeking a Protestant Contemporary Music Director to support a contract based at RAF Lakenheath. The Music Director will provide music activities for the Protestant Contemporary Service. Director-ship includes, but is not limited to, playing, training, scheduling, and processing music for liturgies within the Contemporary Service in collaboration with the Contemporary Service Lead Chaplain.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide musical directorship for the Contemporary Service at RAF Lakenheath Chapel. Directorship is required at all rehearsals, and services.
  • Provide musical directorship for a minimum of 2 units per week.
  • collaborate musical selections with the Chaplain. The Chaplain has final approval or disapproval of music selection.
  • Lead the praise team and congregation in worship and vocally lead them as required by the Chaplain.
  • Assist the Chaplain or their designated representative in developing the following in regards to Music Director Programs as appropriate: annual calendar of events, Chapel tithes and offerings fund budget, appropriated fund budget, and core volunteer training requirements.
  • Return any and all government owned music scores and equipment obtained in the performance of the required duties following the last service provided under the contract.
  • Do not engage in the unauthorized duplication of copyrighted materials by photocopying or any other means that would expose the government for liability for penalties under existing or future copyright laws.
  • Sing music from a religious music, ecclesiastical, or suitable type publication resource consistent with the nature of the Contemporary Service.
  • Provide arranged, improved, and scored music as appropriate for compatibility with the type of worship service or other functions of the Chaplain's program at which it was rendered.
  • Provide Audio/Visual (A/V) lyrics (e.g. PowerPoint slides) for all services as required.
  • Have overall responsibility for and recruit volunteers.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

  • Have 2 or more years of post-secondary or higher education in music (or related field), or equivalent years of related experience in a chapel/church setting.
  • Be able to sing and vocally lead congregation in various styles of Protestant Worship, to include, but not limited to: traditional hymns and Christian contemporary music.
  • Be able to sight read, arrange, improve, play, and score music.
  • Be able to articulate the core tenants of the Christian faith, articulate the value, role, and importance of Christian worship, be a Christian, and articulate what that means to the service Chaplain.

Work Hours:

  • Times for performance may vary throughout the week. Unless otherwise directed and approved by the Chaplain or designee, normal hours of performance shall be limited to service specific requirements of the 1600 Protestant Contemporary Worship Service and rehearsals. The hours required will be no more than 80 hours per month and 960 hours per year.
  • Arrive at least 60 minutes prior to the beginning of worship services and 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each rehearsal.
  • The length of rehearsals shall be no more than two hours. Any time spent immediately prior to the worship service or event is considered part of the worship service, and not a separate rehearsal.
