Job Description
Are you ready to take the lead in shaping VAT strategy across a diverse property portfolio? We're looking for a Property VAT Senior Manager to join our Group Finance team and provide expert guidance across our Homes, Property Investment, and Development businesses. This is a high-impact role where you'll collaborate with senior stakeholders, manage third-party providers, and influence commercial decisions with clear, pragmatic tax advice.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the primary VAT business partner to Real Estate and Homes teams
- Collaborating with Private Markets Tax colleagues to deliver end-to-end VAT support
- Providing VAT sign-off on property transactions and overseeing compliance controls
- Leading improvements in VAT processes and supporting automation initiatives
- Overseeing VAT compliance across funds and investment vehicles in multiple jurisdictions
- Managing communications with HMRC including disclosures and ruling requests
- Delivering training and briefings to enhance VAT awareness across the business
- Engaging with industry bodies and managing relationships with external advisors
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified with significant post-qualification property VAT experience
- Strong technical knowledge of UK VAT in property transactions and fund structures
- Experience advising fund managers and explaining tax issues to non-specialists
- Practical understanding of property acquisitions, developments, and disposals
- Familiarity with REITs, JPUTs, GP/LP structures and build-to-rent models
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across varied audiences
- Proven ability to manage relationships with HMRC and external advisors
- Strategic mindset with a proactive approach to governance and risk management
