About the role

BDP has been undergoing a period of growth and is looking to appoint a dedicated Project Technology Manager in our London Studio to manage project technology initiatives in conjunction with the wider Project Technology group and Central IT overall. The role requires the effective support of technology software, deployment, training, workflow preparation and on occasion R&D within the London studio and project offices. You will work as part of our Central IT team extending to some 30 staff, with this group split between our Central IT Engineering group in Manchester and representatives in local offices.

The Central IT (CIT) group based in Manchester is responsible for the provision of IT services to the whole of BDP. The entire group is currently 40 people strong. The successful applicant will be expected to support the use of a broad range of technical applications utilised by all BDP professions, including architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects. Our primary software suppliers are Autodesk, Adobe, Trimble, Bluebeam, Integrated Environmental Solutions and NBS, though we use many smaller, more specialist applications too.

BDP's London operations extends to approx. 500 staff split between the permanent studio in Clerkenwell (approx. 400 staff) and in central London Kings Cross site office.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a conduit to ensure the effective delivery of ICT services and specifically Project Technology functions to office-based technology users building effective communication channels within the London Studio and between Central IT overall.
  • Maintain an active involvement in Project Technology matters within the London office and practice wide
  • Identify the technical software training needs and coordinate / deliver effective training content to all London Studio staff, both on site and in remote locations utilizing the LMS as the primary vehicle for managing and recording training (directly and through the management of others)
  • Support all design / engineering projects, studio and profession BIM Coordinators within the London studio to assist in determining project technology strategies requirements
  • Work with Central IT and the London Office IT Support Manger to manage and/or assist with the deployment of software applications within the London studio and remote offices
  • Manage and assist in the evaluation and testing of upgrades and new releases of technical software
  • To contribute or otherwise assist as required in all IT matters as they relate to or are impacted upon the London office and remote offices
  • Attend regular Project Technology meetings
  • Represent and provide general support on behalf of Central IT in all dealings with the London office
  • Liaison with London Senior Project Technology Manager, Office IT Support Manager, Senior Relationship Manager and IT Operations Manager over staff responsibilities and critical activities

Skills and Qualities required

  • Experience working in a support/ training role for CAD / BIM applications required
  • In-depth working knowledge of Autodesk Suite of Products including configuration and template creation required (REVIT Certified Professional / Autodesk Expert Elite preferred)
  • Experience delivering Revit training required
  • Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud required
  • Experience of a multidisciplinary AEC environment required
  • Knowledge of UK BIM Framework and working standards required
  • Experience authoring and reviewing suite of BIM documentation in line with ISO19650 required
  • Skills and experience in Rhino and Grasshopper preferred
  • Coding / Scripting skills including Dynamo, Python and Autodesk Forge integrations preferred
  • In-depth working knowledge of Bentley Suite of Products including configuration and template creation preferred
  • Use of VR technologies preferred
  • Developing training material in line with our brand templates to expand our existing LMS library
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Build relationships with internal customers and support teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Person Specification

An individual passionately engaged with the effective application of technology within a challenging AEC design environment.

The individual concerned will be a good communicator with along with client-driven approach to project technology support. The successful person must be able to:

The individual will demonstrate their success in the role through the building of successful relationships within the local IT team, wider office, Project and Profession Directors, the London Studio leadership and other members of the CIT team.
