We are looking for a Project Team Manager to manage a team of project management professionals delivering of exciting, innovative projects that include studies and schemes that ultimately aim to reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment.
Your responsibilities would include:
• Leading and supporting a team delivering complex, projects and programmes, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Supporting team members in their career growth by identifying succession paths, training, and development opportunities.
• Championing health, safety, environmental protection, and wellbeing as fundamental values in all activities.
• Working with fellow Project Team Managers to ensure our project portfolio is well-resourced and meets the expectations of our internal clients.
• Promoting collaborative working practices across the team.
• Ensuring your team adheres to relevant legislation and policies, delivering projects in line with financial requirements.
• Contributing to the overall management of the SE Delivery Hub through portfolio leadership opportunities. e.g. Training and development lead role.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
We are Project and Programme Delivery (PPD), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management.
Our team provides the Environment Agency with effective project and programme management, managing projects throughout their lifecycle, delivering flood risk management, environmental improvements and shared ownership with local communities.
The Project Team Manager manages 8-15 project management professional who manage day-to-day delivery of projects within our flood and coastal erosion risk management programme
Experience/skills required
• A degree (or equivalent) in engineering, environmental or geography related discipline. Chartered membership of a professional body such as APMP, CIWEM, ICE, or a management institute is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and support teams in delivering their work.
• Interpersonal and Influencing Skills: Strong relationship management skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Significant experience in project, contract, business management and/or people management required. Experience in engineering, construction, or flood & coastal risk management is desirable but not essential.
• A track record for delivering results in technically challenging projects through coordination of a technical team will need to be demonstrated.
• Some technical knowledge would be useful to manage a technical team who will be overseeing delivery of hydrology, river modelling, feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.

There is an expectation that there will be at least two days a week at this office. The role may require travel to project sites/team meetings in other offices. Overnight stays may be necessary from time to time.
Driving licence ideally required as some driving may be necessary.
