The team plays an integral role in scoping out new developments to effectively address tobacco control issues for all residents of the City. An important element to take into consideration is the support we offer as a team to the most at risk, including Looked After Children and those in social housing where smoking rates are higher.

By supporting engagement with local communities, and both internal and external stakeholders, you'll understand and address local health needs, and implement appropriate action set out in the tobacco control strategy for Leicester. By collecting and using localised insight and data you'll play a key role in instigating effective decision-making. You'll develop and manage the public health tobacco control agenda across the city and in local communities by developing, commissioning, and managing programmes and services that encourage smoking cessation and reduce smoking related health inequalities. You'll develop and maintain strong relationships with partners both locally, regionally and nationally to effectively address tobacco control across the City.

What you'll need

With substantial experience as a Public Health related professional, you'll understand the importance of tobacco control and the need to treat tobacco dependency to reduce health inequalities and improve population health. You'll have experience of project management within the NHS, local government or comparable organisations. With good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure, you'll have a proven track record of successfully managing complex programmes within agreed budgets and timescales. Using excellent communication skills, you'll have the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences in order to persuade/influence decision makers. With tenacity and a creative approach, you'll be able to analyse complex data and devise effective, creative and innovative solutions.
