Role description:
The role will be responsible for the Country specific Marketing and Communications program for the UK and Ireland. This role will involve stakeholder management - offering strategic counsel and interfacing with Country Directors and Sales/Growth Directors as well as other senior leaders. This role is a 7 month fixed term contract.
As a member of the Global Executive Marketing Leadership Team, you will be an active member of the global marketing communications function, championing and leading particular initiatives on behalf of the community and participating in strategy development.
This role seeks to ensure that the global marketing program, including campaigns and content, are localized for the UK and Ireland markets to ensure that we are maximizing our investment. You will also ensure that the UK website and other channels are developed in line with global guidance and governance.
The leader will direct the central UK & I marketing strategy, for promoting the Arcadis brand in line with our global brand strategy and UK market strategy, as well as directing an impactful internal and external communications strategy.
Providing in-country market insight and expertise (voice of UK) to help develop GBA and Global campaign and communications priorities and tailoring them to in-country audiences (internal and external).
Support specific in-country client growth plans e.g. oversee in-country client account-based marketing programs and any specific sector-based initiatives (i.e. local media promotion, internal campaigns, client experience).
Oversee and manage the government relations programme, directing our retained agency and demonstrating value to the business.
Work with global colleagues to implement the localized version of the Global Brand Ambassadors programme and act as the 'custodian' of the brand in the UK and Ireland by supporting leaders to be externally facing, and to take content out to market across channels.
Manage the in-country budget allocations, metrics and success factors as well as leading and coaching the in-country teams in partnership with functional leads.
Reports to Chief Marketing Officer; 5 direct reports: Field Marketing Manager, two Marketing Specialists, External Communications Manager and Internal Communications Manager (dotted line).
Role accountabilities:
- Advise the UK&I management team on the best practice Marketing and Communications strategy as the business transforms from a service provider to a product and advisory model
- Be an active member of the Executive Marketing Leadership Team to ensure alignment and coordination of regional activity with global strategy
- Promote the Arcadis vision and strategy, positioning Arcadis as a leader in digital and sustainable solutions both internally and externally
- Support the internal communications programme in conjunction with the regional leads to achieve consistency of people experience, understanding UK Country Director's people agenda and priorities
- Ensure effective measurement of all marketing and communications activities and take a data driven approach to decision making
- Champion client focus and outside-in thinking, plan and deliver interventions with BA Growth / Sales leadership team to help us think differently
- Champion enabling our people to better understand and serve our clients, taking an advisory and coaching role
Project
- Play a key role in helping shape the UK Growth and 'market to opportunity' strategy in line with GBA strategies by working closely with BA Growth Directors in support of business strategy, business development targets, driving a strong digital narrative across all
- Champion the external view - understanding of markets, client needs and client experience.
- Strong understanding of evolving UK markets and client behaviour, and contribution to initiatives to deepen understanding of the markets and client experience
- Effective supplier and agency management to drive optimum ROI from spend in conjunction with global colleagues
- Effective GBA and global collaboration - a seamless team
- Drive marketing and thought leadership programme to elevate service offering beyond a commoditised product
- Advise UK solutions or product leads on market needs and positioning
Budget
- Manage the UK marketing communications budget aligned with global marketing
- Ensure outputs of campaigns activities are monitored and ROI is recorded and linked back to business objectives
People
- Lead, coach and develop UK & Ireland team to ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 15+ years marketing communications experience in a professional services environment at a leadership level
- Ability to lead and inspire teams through change
- Ability to work alongside senior leadership team and other senior stakeholders, with the capability to build strong working relationships with internal customers and colleagues and to engage and motivate
- Experience across the marketing and communications mix both externally and internally, able to understand the different channels available and how the intermix (including thought leadership content, digital, media, events and sponsorship, policy and advocacy)
- A strategic thinker with proven track record in the provision of B2B multi-channel and digital marketing campaigns
- Strong Communication skills with ability to adapt style to suit the audience and exchange information in a clear, concise and articulate manner
- Experience of measurement of marketing activities - good data analytics experience
- Experience in leading teams and strong people skills, including strong facilitation skills
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Creative and innovative approach
- Marketing or Business degree level education
- Ability to provide a strategic link between marketing communications activities, brand and business outcomes
- Makes decisions with market and client needs in mind and that adds value to service delivery
- Ability to identify and assess key issues and suggest best course of action
- CIM, CIPR qualification or equivalent
