Project Manager (Maintenance and Minor Works)

The main purpose of the job role is to undertake the management and delivery of pre-planned maintenance and minor works activities, inclusive of planning and resourcing of labour, ensuring that all aspects of health and safety are adhered to. Production of both RAMS and SSoW client dependent. Arrange the procurement and delivery of materials to site inclusive of checking all quotations as required, and Management of all levels of site-based staff to ensure that work is undertaken correctly and assist staff with future development of their employment goals.

Your New Job

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Work with all staff and clients to ensure that works are completed both on time and within budget.
  • Managing the delivery of pre-planned maintenance activities on HV & LV Electrical Distribution networks, including review and agreeing outage requirements with the client, planning resources and ensuring all RAMS and SSOW documents are prepared ahead of the works.
  • Managing the delivery of minor works activities on HV & LV Electrical Distribution networks, including but not limited to ACB retrofits, HV protection upgrades, switchgear/transformer refurbishments, HV cable fault rectifications, including review and agreeing outage requirements with the client, planning resources and ensuring all RAMS and SSOW documents are prepared ahead of the works.
  • Responding to and managing client emergency call outs, ensuring quick response times to minimise clients power down time, and to manage and communicate associated costs with the client and ensuring positive client, internal and third party expectations.
  • A focus on delivering quick turnaround minor works and call out activities, with an emphasis on increasing revenue and profit margins.
  • To pro-actively generate leads and opportunities for the expansion of the service provision of Ipsum Power (Midlands) Ltd.
  • To react to other leads from existing customers or in-house.
  • Ability to upsell the HV/LV services to existing customers.
  • Produce RAMS and SSoW.
  • Conduct and produce alteration of work schedules and/or programmes as and when required.
  • Undertake site visits to ensure ongoing works are advancing in alinement with schedules/programmes, ensuring client satisfaction and ensuring that no 'risks' arise to the Ipsum Power (Midlands) Ltd.
  • Communicate with clients as required to assist in the delivery of both new and ongoing works.
  • Ensure to liaise with Ipsum Planning Team for labour requirements when required for Projects and Maintenance work.
  • Manage the procurement and delivery of materials to site and office locations that is required for Maintenance and Minor works activities.
  • Management and procurement of sub-contractors via Ipsum Power (Midlands Ltd) supplier database.
  • Checking and signing off of relevant invoices attached to the Stoke on Trent operation.
  • Ensure all maintenance and test documentation is collated and issued to clients in a timely manner.
  • Assisting the business in the development of new clients and work.
  • Conduct project site inspections against internal requirements (minimum one per month)

Health and Safety

  • Implement IPSUM Power (Midland) Ltd safety rules, instructions, and procedures.
  • Actively monitor teams within your line management responsibility of Engineers
  • Ensure Risk Assessments are carried out at all stages of a project (design, planning, generic and Daily On Site).
  • Conduct site safety inspections and complete associated paperwork.
  • Ensure that accidents and near misses are suitably reported, recorded and investigated and that remedial action is carried out promptly.
  • Report any concerns regarding SHEQ to the Head of SHEQ Power and your Line Manager.

Senior Accountabilities:

  • Carry out regular skill reviews with engineers to better understand training requirements for assigned engineers.
  • Be a vocal point for assigned engineers, issues and assist where needed.

Required Qualifications & Professional Membership(s):

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent or working towards

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation.
  • Detailed understanding of current HV/ LV electrical installation techniques.
  • Good knowledge of HV & LV switchgear, transformers and power assets in Electrical Distribution networks.
  • Solid and up to date knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation and technical advances.
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety practice and Risk Assessment.
  • Previous experience working in the High Voltage industry
