The Project Manager will take full responsibility for planning, managing, and delivering the BTNO Project safely, sustainably, and in line with programme, cost, and quality targets. The role requires strong technical project management experience in 400kV underground cabling and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams through all project phases-from planning and design to delivery, commissioning, and handover.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the safe and sustainable delivery of the BTNO project to agreed programme, budget, and quality standards.
- Have full accountability for project success, including planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning, and close-out.
- Provide strong leadership and management to foster an environment where the multi-disciplinary project team can thrive and achieve project objectives.
- Manage and coordinate all interfaces between internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, issues, and performance metrics, ensuring timely mitigation and escalation where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and internal governance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery methods, health and safety, and environmental performance.
- Manage budgets and financial controls to ensure cost efficiency and transparency.
- Oversee procurement and contract management activities to support successful project execution.
- Lead stakeholder engagement and ensure alignment with client requirements and expectations.
Who we're looking for
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager within the power transmission industry, specifically with 400kV underground cabling projects.
- Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, civil engineering interfaces, and cable installation methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Experience with NEC or similar contract forms preferred.
- Relevant degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., APM, PMI, or Prince2) desirable.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required.
