Role Summary
As a Project Manager within our Research and Development (R&D) Team at Parker Meggitt, you'll lead engineering work package(s) on engineering project(s) for new products or processes. This is an opportunity to be at the cutting edge of aerospace technology development, working on projects aimed at securing the sustainable future of flight.
You will support day to day work package management activities (including the Level-0 Work Package Stand-Up meeting where applicable) and progress all outstanding engineering issues, maintain elements of project plans (MS Project). You'll also provide status reporting using the Project Management Database (Power BI), including briefing and preparing the team to accomplish goals and objectives - communicating Work Package priorities in a convincing manner, encouraging buy-in.
Your responsibilities
- Apply broad based technical and industry knowledge and experience to maximise opportunities for success on work packages
- Coordinate internal work package team meetings and support customer needs (supporting at Project Reviews and Financial Reviews as required with the oversight of the Project Manager)
- Create, modify and agree project plans with the Integrated Project Team (IPT) Lead and/or Engineering Design Authorities (Chief Engineer) for the work package
- Realises effective Project planning with complex relations and challenging milestones in a matrix organisation
- Sequences project activities and deliverables, taking in to account various dependencies to determine critical path
- Lead Work Package Meetings (internal) and support Customer needs (external meetings)
- Understand customer and regulatory requirements and ensure they are provisioned for within the schedule
Who we are looking for
- Significant Project Management experience within the manufacturing industry
- Ability to visualise and plan objectives and goals strategically
- Ability to research and analyse data effectively
- Demonstrated ability to provide cross-functional leadership
- Track record of building and maintaining customer/client relationships
- Ability to work independently and prioritise duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-browsers
- Understands the basics of (but not necessarily proficient in) Project Management tools (i.e., MS Project) or similar project tool(s) Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
Ideally, you will also have
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- A strong background in project management methodology
- Experience of engineering Research and Development (R&D) activities in either aerospace or cryogenics
- Ability to develop strategic plans to grow the business
- Management of funding from a variety of sources, and accompanying reporting requirements
