Location: Snow Hill, Birmingham

Salary Base salary: £47,450 pa to £59,300pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Project Manager - BBV ONW you will provide project management support to the Senior Project Manager ONW, within a joint HS2 / Network Rail delivery unit.

The primary focus of the role is to assure that requirements and scope developed in the delivery of works on Network Rail assets meet HS2 outcomes.

The Project Manager acts as an HS2 representative responsible for discharging HS2 duties in relation to funding, requirements, and value for money.

About the role:

  • Represent the HS2 Client within the delivery unit, supporting the Senior project Manager as the formal point of interface within the Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).
  • Assure that requirements and scope developed meet HS2 outcomes and represent value for money.
  • Ensure compliance to U&As and EMRs in the Phase One Act.
  • Manage changes within delegated authority and authorised budget, assuring that cost estimates and proposed changes represent value for money.
  • Managing project and business risks and support mitigation of HS2 & NR programme level risks.
  • Manage relationships with interfacing HS2 functions and projects.

About You:

Skills:

  • Project Management - Skills profile aligned to APM Project Manager (Intermediate).
  • Problem Solving - the ability to identify problems and review related information in order to manage the development and evaluation of options and implementation of solutions and escalate as appropriate,
  • Decision Making - the ability to identify, gather and synthesise the necessary information and facilitate the identification of options and the application of judgement.
  • Influencing & negotiating - the ability to influence and negotiate with internal functions and external supply chain partners and reconcile functional requirements with delivery demands.
  • Developing & Maintaining Relationships - Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to resolve emergent risk situations.

Knowledge:

  • Project management knowledge aligned to the level of APM Project Manager (Intermediate)
  • Awareness of the technical elements of the relevant scope of work within the overall HS2 programme, including interdependencies.
  • Operating within complex interfaces with multiple parties, preferably within the context of a major infrastructure project.
  • Project management techniques including risk and reporting.
  • Awareness of the nature of the relevant contract / agreement structures and the design and application of appropriate performance systems.

Types of Experience

  • Experience of collaboration in large multidisciplinary projects. planning, and implementing project activities.
  • Experience of working across functions and disciplines to deliver complex objectives.
  • Experience of governance and assurance activities.
  • Degree level qualification in project management, engineering, commercial management, or the equivalent experience.
