Project Manager
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple ongoing projects, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards, adhere to deadlines, and maximise commercial performance. This role involves close collaboration with the Estimating Department, site teams, and surveyors to ensure project delivery is safe, efficient, and exceeds customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
General Management:

  • Develop financial forecasts, monitor project costs, and produce monthly performance reports for the Contracts Manager.
  • Manage projects from the design phase through to completion, ensuring all handover documentation is finalized.
  • Track progress, budget resources effectively, and plan ahead for future project needs.
  • Define and clarify work packages, ensuring all teams understand their scope of work.
  • Lead weekly site meetings and maintain accurate records of discussions and actions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and design consultants.
  • Develop and oversee construction programs in coordination with our client's staff.
  • Manage site investigations throughout the construction process.
  • Provide cost-effective engineering solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Ensure project plans, risk assessments, method statements, and procurement align with company procedures.
  • Maintain detailed site diaries and records.
  • Drive cost efficiency's and challenge the status quo to maximise commercial value.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE):

  • Lead by example in promoting health, safety, and environmental best practices.
  • Ensure all HSE documentation is current and maintained.
  • Provide monthly HSE reports and allocate responsibilities to site personnel, ensuring proper training.
  • Oversee subcontractor compliance with company HSE procedures.
  • Maintain site waste management plans and environmental risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as HSG47, HAUC, NRSWA, and Chapter 8.
  • Deliver regular training and briefings, including toolbox talks and safety forums.

Quality Assurance:

  • Manage and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure proper sign-offs.
  • Oversee the preparation and upkeep of QA files.
  • Address technical queries and ensure their resolution.
  • Ensure the timely submission of as-built documentation and O&M manuals.

Performance Targets:

  • Meet our client's reporting deadlines (weekly and monthly).
  • Ensure project milestones and contract timescales are achieved.
  • Align with Business Unit objectives.
  • Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) across all operational pillars.

Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a candidate with substantial experience in project management within the Civil and Water sectors. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
Essential:

  • Strong understanding of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 or equivalent project management software.
  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
  • CSCS Manager's card and SMSTS certification.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts, including Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
  • Ability to challenge designs, resolve problems, and drive project success with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working within a direct labour organization.

Employment Type: Permanent
Hours of Work: Full-time (45 hours per week)
Required Experience: Minimum 5 years in a senior engineering role
Preferred Qualifications: Degree or HNC/HND in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
