As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with all required tasks undertaken within the Programme Management team, including programme scoping, control, planning and progress chasing. Your responsibility will also include support to our Concept, Engineering, Supply Chain, Styling and other teams to enable their deliverables to be achieved. A primary focus on R&D programmes, with a high level of external reporting against expected deliverables within a government funded project, across internal and external project partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the R&D Project Planning activity within the Programme Management function and work closely with functional planning roles to ensure full alignment of plans and clear identification and management of critical path and timing risks
- Supporting Concept and Engineering teams in maintaining and ensuring change control application to Vehicle Technical Specification
- Working with the Project team, to maintain spend control and ensure project activities operating within financial budget constraints
- Lead project teams to ensure documentation and planning activities are completed and maintained in line with the overall project requirements
- Support the Project both internally and externally at major project reviews/milestones and progress chase actions arising
- Demonstrate progress against the project scope and requirements, including reporting to external bodies as part of the R&D project governance
- Work with functional teams to manage BoM accuracy, cost, weight, timing information
- Monitor programme variations e.g. change to scope, cost, timing etc
- Coordinate with Principal Engineers and the Project team to ensure technical targets, program timings and budgetary requirements are met
- Progress chase risks and issues within the programme to ensure progress is in line with the programme milestones
- Highlighting of risks and issues which impact project timings, budget or quality
- Work closely with Vehicle Development team to have robust vehicle, system and component validation plans to deliver the Programme and Product requirements
- Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement
- Assist in development of Programme Management Processes, Procedures and Documentation
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- It is anticipated that you will have a minimum of 3 years relevant automotive or motorsport experience
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
- Excellent inter-personal skills; able to influence, persuade and negotiate with all levels and business functions
- Proficient with MS Office365, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Word
- Naturally proactive and able to support the Programme Managers in driving projects forward
- Professional and comfortable with discussions with all levels of the business
- Able to demonstrate organisation skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to cope under pressure and ensure deadlines are met
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Personable and willing to accept additional responsibility
- Highly results orientated; strong drive to deliver
