Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible
for overseeing and executing various digital projects, ensuring their successful delivery within scope,
budget, and timeline. Your project management expertise, leadership skills, and strategic mindset
will be pivotal in driving innovation and efficiency in our digital initiatives - the creation of a digital
power station.
You will be delivering multiple projects at any one time with a strong focus on infrastructure
projects, as well as introducing new digital solutions. You will be working closely with the
construction and operations teams at SZC to ensure their requirements are met and support their
uptake of the IT capability for today and the future.
At Sizewell C (SZC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, replicated the work delivered at
Hinckley Point C to provide low carbon electricity for around six million homes. The SZC project is a
complex and fast-moving environment within a highly regulated industry. We are focussed on the
meeting our go live, or Commercial Operation Date (COD) so every project must be well planned and
delivered, to time, cost and quality expectations.
Responsibilities
• Project Planning: Collaborate with the Business Architect (BA), sponsors and stakeholders to
recognise the project needs, define project objectives, scope, and deliverables. Develop detailed
project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies. Support the BA develop the Project
Initiation Document for Sponsor sign off that ensures effective estimation of cost, timescales and
resource requirements, including a detailed Quality Plan to create a 'contract' of expectations
with the Project Sponsor.
• Team Leadership: Lead a cross-functional team of IT professionals, designers, developers, and
other stakeholders. Motivate and inspire the team to achieve project goals and foster a
collaborative work environment.
• Stakeholder Management: Assuring and overseeing the development and execution of a
stakeholder engagement plan to manage relationships, ensuring buy-in, timely involvement and
commitment of key stakeholders.
• Budget Management: Manage project budgets and expenditures, ensuring cost-effectiveness and
adherence to financial constraints.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges in projects and proactively develop
mitigation plans to address them.
• Reporting: Active management of project progress, scope, budget, risks, issues, resources,
dependencies, stakeholders, vendors, and requirements throughout the project lifecycle,
escalating and reporting to the Programme Manager, Project Sponsor and Project Board, as
appropriate. Assuring and overseeing the provision of accurate and timely reporting to the Project
Board, PMO and NNB senior management.
• Technology Expertise: Working with SMEs and delivery partners to deliver the latest digital and IT
trends, tools, and technologies. Apply this groups knowledge to optimise project performance
and make informed decisions.
C2 General
• Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to ensure seamless
integration and alignment with project requirements. Assuring that Delivery Partners comply with
agreed NNB standards, procedures and delivery methods and commitments are identified, agreed
and delivered without impacting the project quality criteria. Oversee production of a robust and
realistic detailed project plans which enable critical path analysis, ensuring action is taken where
these deviate from agreed tolerances.
• Quality Assurance: Working with our Test Centre of Excellence to implement robust testing and
quality assurance processes to ensure deliverables meet high standards and customer
expectations. Assuring and overseeing the effective management of all project workstreams to
agreed quality criteria throughout the project lifecycle.
• Governance and Assurance: working closely with our Governance Team to ensure project are
delivered within the regulations set out for auditability.
• Communication: Facilitate effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and
clients, providing regular project updates and progress reports and working with the Business
Change Centre of Excellence to seamlessly integrate the changes into the business
• Change Management: Manage project changes and scope creep, evaluating their impact and
guiding the team through the necessary adjustments.
• Project Closure: Conduct project closure evaluations to identify successes, challenges, and
lessons learned. Utilise these insights to enhance future project performance.
Requirements
A Project Manager, with experience of delivering Digital & IT projects in a regulated industry is
advantageous. You should enjoy working as part of a team and be able to:
• Proven experience as a Project Manager, with a track record of successful project deliveries,
within the digital and IT domain and experience in infrastructure project is very advantageous.
• Proficient in project management methodologies, tools, and software; maintaining a focus on
project costs and outputs
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively
• Excellent leadership, communication (written/verbal) at all levels of the organisation, and
interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Engage, influence and manage others including mentoring and coaching support
• Confident in making decisions
