I am excited to share a remarkable opportunity to be a driving force behind one of the UK's most ambitious energy projects. We at the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) are seeking an accomplished and visionary Project Manager to join our team, working on the transformative Sizewell C project.

About Sizewell C: Sizewell C is set to be a 3.2-gigawatt power station, generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, and playing a pivotal role in the UK's move towards a sustainable energy future. This project is nationally significant, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and ensure the supply of reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.

Position: Project Manager Location: Suffolk office with regular site visits required

Your Role: As the Project Manager, you will provide strategic operational management, strong leadership, and control of a multi-disciplinary team. Your mission will be to guide the project to meet its critical milestones, ensuring efficiency, safety, and high quality in all aspects of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

Core:

  • Uphold and live by the SZC Values.
  • Support the delivery of SZC's Sustainability activities.

Health, Safety & Environmental:

  • Foster a culture of openness and trust in health and safety reporting.
  • Set and manage targets and KPIs, steering the project towards success.
  • Lead and review accident and incident investigations, implementing necessary actions.
  • Ensure all relevant consents, permits, and licenses are obtained and complied with.

Engineering Control:

  • Allocate sufficient resources to each work section and ensure appropriate ability levels.
  • Promote training to support individual development and project needs.
  • Leverage knowledge of nuclear environments and protocols for managing construction works.

Quality:

  • Set targets and KPIs aligned with project objectives, monitoring performance.
  • Lead audits and implement findings to maintain a Right First-Time approach.
  • Oversee handover documentation and lessons learned investigations.

Productivity:

  • Set performance targets, monitor outputs, and drive Lean initiatives for efficiency.
  • Manage sub-contractor performance and operational target programmes.
  • Liaise with off-site functions for knowledge sharing and best practices.

Commercial:

  • Align targets and KPIs with budget forecasts, overseeing cost management.
  • Manage the procurement of subcontractors and advise on commercial aspects.
  • Oversee the preparation of cost plans and manage cost vs. value analyses.
  • Support the Estimating Team in work-winning activities.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams.
  • Experience in health, safety, environmental management, and quality control.
  • Strong understanding of marine and nuclear environments.
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours and a current driving license and CSCS Card.
  • Experience in managing large-scale construction operations and sub-contractor KPIs.
  • Proficiency in producing and managing financial forecasts.
  • Knowledge of NEC and other relevant forms of contract.
  • Proven track record in innovation and continuous improvement.

Desirable:

  • Formal qualifications in leadership and management (e.g., ILM).
  • Professional accreditation and active participation in advancing the profession.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing talent within a team.
