The purpose of this role is to provide end to end support for the setup and ongoing delivery of surveys and other projects as required, producing plans that support both new and continuous surveys (including pilots), coordinating activities across departments. You will support data collection through regular monitoring of progress according to stakeholder requirements.

You will work on a range of surveys, applying NatCen best practice standards and policies.

Key to your success will be developing strong relationships with specialist teams, ensuring that tasks are delegated correctly, and that resource and quality issues are dealt with quickly and effectively.

What you will do...

  • Confirm project requirements, acting as point of contact between stakeholders across research and operational delivery teams, including External Field management teams.
  • Produce, maintain and communicate project plans and timetables.
  • Allocate tasks to relevant business areas across research and operational delivery teams.
  • Ensure survey data collection requirements are documented, and where there are any changes that these are captured and impacted areas are informed
  • Ensuring good project governance including risk management, change control and project reviews.
  • Monitor progress against timetable/plans and ensuring effective corrective actions are in place whenever there is a divergence
  • Collating and distributing reports on fieldwork progress as required.
  • Liaise with Head of External Field to highlight issues within Data Collection that could be hindering the achievement of the contractual response requirements, including follow up to ensure any agreed action plans are carried out by Data Collection
  • Contribute to project costings for data collection and project support work
  • To perform any other reasonable duties that NatCen may require that are consistent with the broad nature of the job.

What you will need...

Essential:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong interdepartmental and stakeholder relationship management;
  • Experience of organising others and of organising complicated activities; developing delivery plans
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proactive and highly motivated to deliver projects successfully
  • Resilient in the face of setbacks
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of survey research processes;
  • Qualifications in the basics of project management (e.g., Prince 2, Agile)
