Overview

A Project Manager for Temporary Utilities is a dynamic and results-driven professional responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation of temporary utility systems on construction sites. This role requires a unique blend of project management skills, technical expertise in utility systems, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to ensure the seamless provision of temporary utilities throughout the project lifecycle.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.

What you'll be doing

As a Project Manager, you will have the following responsibilities,

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary utilities.
  • Work with Temporary Utilities Engineering Manager to design temporary utility systems that meet project specifications, selecting appropriate utility solutions, considering factors such as power, water, heating, ventilation, and cooling requirements.
  • Identify and allocate resources, develop budgets to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols and project timelines.
  • Implement quality control measures for temporary utility installations.
  • Conduct inspections to verify that utility systems meet established standards and specifications.

  • Identify potential risks related to temporary utilities and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively address challenges to prevent disruptions to services.
  • Ensure all installations comply with site and national

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding temporary utility needs.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, addressing concerns and ensuring client satisfaction.

Who we're looking for

Do you have?

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in overseeing temporary utility design and
  • Familiarity with utility systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and codes.
  • SMSTS site safety training / CCNSG Safety Passport
  • Ability to achieve a high-level security clearance.
  • Nuclear and Major Project experience would be a benefit.
