What is the Role?.

As a Project Director SSE Energy Solutions, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of major opportunities in the energy sector. Your work will involve developing multi-million pound energy asset solutions and financial investment propositions, empowering our clients to achieve their sustainability goals. With total contract values exceeding £200M Capex, your leadership will drive the success of large-scale technical programs.

You will be at the forefront of our business vision and strategy, empowering our growth through successful bids and project management excellence. In this role, you will take direct responsibility for all aspects of identified projects across the UK, working closely with the Director of Major Projects. Your expertise will guide us

The key responsibilities within this role will be;

You will identify and manage client requirements, stakeholder relationships, and third-party engagements. Your role will involve understanding key routes to market, developing and executing propositions for large technical projects, and implementing effective project delivery practices. Additionally, you will take ownership of financial targets, ensuring project profitability.

Through effective solution management and rigorous planning, you will contribute to increased profitability and business growth. Your strategic mindset and attention to detail will enable us to navigate complex challenges and secure sustainable success.

You will coordinate and develop dedicated teams capable of supporting major projects. Leveraging resources from our wider Distributed Energy business, you will assemble resilient teams that bring diverse skills and expertise to the table. Your leadership will ensure seamless execution and outstanding performance.

As part of the Major Projects' leadership team, you will collaborate with the Director of Major Projects to shape our proposition delivery and cultivate strategic partnerships. By creating compelling business cases, presentations, and data-driven reports, you will drive engagement with the Distributed Energy and SSE Executive Leadership teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Developing bespoke client solutions to develop energy solutions to meet security of supply and decarbonisation needs (both technical and financial) and provide the thought leadership to meet the client requirements and provide investable solutions for SSE.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you'll need to:

Demonstrated experience operating at a senior leadership level within the energy/utilities market, managing high-value projects and programs of work. Your industry expertise will be invaluable in shaping our sustainable future.

Proven experience in developing and financing large project complex legal structures including joint-venture agreements and extensive exposure to contract management and negotiation within matrix environments. Your skills will enable us to navigate complex contractual landscapes effectively.

A deep understanding of critical success factors associated with project management, including risk assessment, timeline management, and deliverable achievement. Your meticulous planning and organizational skills will be crucial in ensuring project success.

A talent for building engaged and resilient teams capable of supporting large-scale programs. Your exceptional communication skills will enable you to manage the expectations of diverse stakeholders, presenting technical information accurately.
