PROJECT DIRECTOR - BUILDING

GUILDFORD/GOSPORT

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Project Director to join the team at Galliford Try within our Building (Southern) Business for our project based in Gosport.

Ideally, you will based in or around the Guildford area.

As Project Director you will report to the Area Director and be responsible for successful delivery of complex projects, safely, on time, to specification, and to the satisfaction of the client. You will be an advocate of Delivering Excellence and a role model for your team, maintaining excellent relationships with all stakeholders.

You will:

  • Create a safe and positive working environment.

  • Ensure that the principles of CDM are applied and relevant legislation is complied with.
  • Embed a Challenging Beliefs Affecting Behaviour culture.
  • Engage with designers to ensure a safe, buildable and timely design is achieved within the detailed design phase to allow efficient delivery of the scheme, applying safety in design principles.
  • Ensure all pre-commencement and regulatory requirements are discharged prior to work commencing.
  • Champion the use of innovative technologies and techniques.
  • Take ownership of risk & opportunities in conjunction with the commercial team.
  • Ensure any incidents/accidents are thoroughly investigated, closed out and learnings implemented.
  • Take ownership for the delivery and quality of work to the required standards.
  • Ensure adequate resource to fulfil the programme including the demobilisation and redeployment of the team at the end of the project.
  • Manage, develop, monitor and review direct reports and team performances, providing encouragement and setting improvement targets as and when required.
  • Drive strategic leadership.
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of the project.
  • Significant contribution to the business unit, including the Safety Forum, Project Manager's Forum and Quality Forum.
  • Build effective working relationships throughout the business, up to and including Director level.

About You:

Competency Requirements:

  • Promote a positive safety, quality and CBAB culture
  • Proven experience in successfully managing multiple teams contributing to their professional development.
  • First class project management capabilities able to showcase a track record of delivering to client's expectations.
  • Expertise in planning and programming.
  • Technically proficient and with an up-to-date knowledge of current construction methodologies and standards.
  • Expertise in developing a performance culture and building high performing teams.
  • Advanced communication skills adept at interfacing with multiple stakeholders both internal & external.
  • Excellent contractual knowledge and commercially astute.
  • Proven leadership and delegation skills.
  • Capability to work independently whilst keeping people informed.
  • Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to Company health and safety policy and procedures.

Technical/Professional Qualifications Required:

  • Relevant CSCS card.
  • SMSTS
  • Relevant site management qualifications. First Aid etc.
  • Professional qualified i.e. MCIOB
  • HNC/Degree.
