Senior Conference Producer: Climate Action Stage, immediate start

About the Role:

This Programme Manager role presents a rare and important opportunity to make an impact on the world's transition to net zero, by leading the programming for the Climate Action Stage at the Climate Action Innovation Zone at COP29: convened at the annual COP meetings, additional will contribute to our wider Climate Action Innovation Zone programme supporting on key content initiatives that link to our Flagship Forums and roundtables.

The successful candidate will be expected to feel comfortable working at the highest level of UN, business, and government, and have a deep knowledge of climate change policy and the UNFCCC COP process.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Programme Management: Develop, implement, and oversee the Climate Action Stage programme and schedule in coordination with internal teams and external partners.
  • Project Management: Oversee Climate Action Stage project management and post-event analysis, ensuring successful delivery and audience engagement.
  • Content Development: Collaborate with partners to define and structure the content narrative for Climate Action Stage events/sessions, ensuring alignment with the Climate Innovation Zone mission and content streams.
  • Timeline & Milestone Tracking: Monitor and track progress to ensure KPIs and targets for the Climate Action Stage are achieved.
  • Partner Engagement: Identify and secure partners by coordinating with the commercial team to confirm their participation and sponsorship.
  • Climate Action Stage event coordination: Manage all logistics for partners this may include at times speaker acquisition/invitations, content briefings, any other related activities to the comprehensive execution of Climate Action Stage events.
  • Briefings: Prepare and deliver briefings for each Climate Action Stage session/event delivery to marketing, and operations teams.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with marketing and audience acquisition teams to ensure effective communication and engagement strategies for target audience deliver for each event.
  • Contract Management: Oversee partnership contracts to ensure deliverables are met and manage partner expectations.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to partners and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and resolving issues promptly.
  • Onboarding & Session Alignment: Onboard Climate Action Stage partners and assist in defining event content and framing, ensuring alignment with mission and content streams.
  • Session Curation: Develop and manage the Climate Action Stage program and schedule, ensuring engaging and impactful sessions.
  • Performance Tracking: Implement and monitor content strategy, milestones, and targets to achieve Climate Action Stage KPIs.
  • Speaker Management: Invite and confirm speakers as needed, ensuring all arrangements are handled.
  • Marketing Copywriting: Create promotional copy for marketing channels (website, mailers, social media) and materials.
  • Content Creation: Draft session outlines, interviews, scripts, and production briefs as required.
  • Website Management: Keep the website updated with the latest programme information for Climate Action Stage sessions and events, ensuring accurate and current content is presented for external awareness and promotion when applicable.
  • Onsite Delivery: Manage Climate Action Stage delivery onsite for the full duration of the programme ensuring to meet partner event sessions objectives and expectations.
  • Post-Event Analysis: Conduct evaluations and prepare detailed reports highlighting event outcomes and providing insights into the Climate Action Stage's performance.

Requirements

Essential role requirements:

  • Experience working on commercial conference B2B events creating, managing and delivering international B2B conferences funded by sponsorship and delegate or membership revenue streams; ideally in sustainability and climate change.
  • At least 4 years in B2B conference production specifically for sustainable finance or/and climate and sustainability related events. An additional 6 years of relevant experience is also required.
  • This is an urgent hire so ideally we need candidates who are immediately available! We can also consider freelancers

Ideal role requirements:

  • Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the climate, sustainability, or sustainable finance.
  • A commercially-driven conference producer with a successful track record in managing and delivering impactful events.
  • Proven ability to design and curate conference agendas, and secure high-level speakers (principals only). Experience in managing speaker invitations, onboarding, and briefings.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting commercial teams to achieve revenue targets, including participation in sales calls, pitching content to prospects, identifying sponsorship opportunities, creating sales briefs, and contributing to marketing strategies to drive delegate sales and engagement.
  • Skilled in creating event materials for marketing purposes (copywriting), ensuring they align with conference themes and objectives.
  • Alignment with Climate Action's mission and our business objectives.
  • Desirable to have sustainability/climate related qualification/s.
  • Extensive knowledge about climate change, policy and sustainability.
  • Experience in a single market sector including evidence of strong relationships with key players across the industry such as sustainable innovation; energy transition; investment; hydrogen; urban and international.
  • mobility/transportation; industrial sectors; agriculture and agribusiness; international climate finance; sustainable business; supply chains; climate policy etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of climate issues, with reference to sustainability issues, subnational climate commitments and the UNFCCC COP process.
