Salary: Starting Salary is £53,630 (Level one) rising to £56,840 'pro rata for part-time' per annum

About the Role

The Council's Corporate Programme Management Office, through its Major Projects team, has a long history of managing the delivery of capital investment to the Council's assets.

We are looking to recruit a Programme Manager who will predominantly be responsible for the client side project management of our school capital programme. Currently this includes an annual condition programme (c£2m per year) and special educational needs and secondary expansion projects (c£26m over the next 2-3 years).

The role will involve close liaison with both the Council's Education service area, schools, the local Schools Trust and Multi Academy Trusts and be responsible for advising on the allocation of funding to meet needs and then ensuring the delivery of the resultant projects. Activities here range from supporting business case development, to seeking approvals to managing the performance of contractors delivering schemes.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A detailed in depth knowledge and application of project management theory and practical techniques to enable monitoring and control of multiple programmes and projects.

• The practical experience to create and manage a safe and controlled project environment that teams feel safe to work within.

. A developed experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, to efficiently deliver a range of projects that meet customer needs.

. The ability to analyse complex situations and make decisions leading to positive action

• The ability to provide complex technical advice and explain and communicate proposals with wide ranging and significant impacts for the Council in simple language to promote clear actions.

• The ability to find solutions to service challenges / priorities and deliver changing priorities and new ways of working.
