The university's Estates Planning & Development team is responsible for master planning the estate and planning, designing and delivering capital projects with a value exceeding £0.5m.
About the Role
Estates Planning and Development (EPD) are seeking a highly motivated, organised and capable individual to deliver effective and professional construction project management across the University's substantial and varied property portfolio.
Reporting to the Associate Director for Real Estate Development (Health) and working closely with Senior Project Managers, the post holder will take ownership and independently manage a wide range of construction projects from inception through to post-completion to ensure the University's property portfolio is effectively maintained, improved and developed in accordance with agreed standards, policies and procedures; maintenance plans; and the capital investment programme.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria
- Degree level in a construction, estates or project management related discipline
- Sound and comprehensive technical expertise plus practical knowledge of building construction including new build and refurbishment works
- Prior experience of leading capital projects in comparable environments
- Understanding of current relevant construction legislation and contract options
- Administrative skills and financial budgetary control
- Comprehensive ability to use Microsoft Project
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff at all levels
- Relevant professional membership or working towards CIOB/RICS/APM/ARB/RIBA or other relevant professional qualification
Desirable Criteria
- Specific experience of capital projects with a bias in life-sciences, healthcare or educational laboratory environments
- A specific project management qualification e.g. Prince 2 Practitioner
- Knowledge and experience of Business Case development related to Capital Investment Projects
- Experience of contract administering a recognised standard form of contract such as JCT, NEC etc.
- Relevant construction-related Health & Safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH
