Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and client-focused Programme & Client Engagement Director to join our consulting team. Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, the Director is responsible for the successful delivery of client engagements - ensuring expectations are met or exceeded while maintaining profitability, quality, and strategic alignment with the firm's objectives.

The Director will own, shape and oversee delivery approaches, manage multidisciplinary teams, and safeguard both commercial performance and client satisfaction. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex, high-profile engagements, build trusted client relationships, generate new business opportunities and develop the capabilities of our staff and company to support their future growth.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of complex transformation programmes, ensuring alignment with both client objectives and internal contractual commitments.
  • Define programme scope, objectives, deliverables, and success measures in collaboration with the client and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with the business case and drive benefits realisation throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, acting as a strategic advisor and escalation point.
  • Lead day-to-day management of programme delivery, ensuring milestones are met on time and within contractual and commercial parameters.
  • Apply the firm's quality management processes and methodologies to all deliverables.
  • Manage changes to scope, timelines, and resources through structured governance processes.
  • Ensure programme delivery is consistent with the Statement of Work (SOW), commercial agreements, and internal delivery frameworks.
  • Direct multidisciplinary consulting teams, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate internal delivery teams, third-party suppliers, and partners working through the firm, ensuring seamless integration and accountability across all delivery components.

Commercial Management

  • Own the financial performance of assigned programmes, including revenue, margin, and utilisation targets.
  • Monitor and control budgets, ensuring resources are deployed efficiently and profitably.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts of revenue and costs, escalating variances promptly.
  • Support contract negotiations, change control, and commercial risk management.

Leadership & People Development

  • Foster a high-performance culture within programme teams.
  • Mentor and develop consultants, ensuring they gain the skills and experience to progress.
  • Model the firm's values and leadership behaviours in all interactions.

Practice & Capability Development

  • Apply and evolve BIP's methodologies, incorporating lessons learned and best practices.
  • Support development of existing and new propositions, tools, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, case studies, and industry insights.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Delivery against time, scope, budget, and quality targets.
  • Programme profitability and contribution margin.
  • Repeat business and new opportunities identified, and sales generated.
  • Team engagement and retention.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record in leading complex programmes in relevant industries/sectors.
  • Strong client relationships at a senior level.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and direct multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers, delivery partners and client's internal teams
  • Sound commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and contract management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce and present high-quality deliverables.
  • Familiarity with structured programme management methodologies (e.g., MSP, PRINCE2, PMI's Standard for Program Management ).

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline; post-graduate qualification (e.g., MBA) desirable.
  • Professional certifications in project/programme management or change management preferred.
