About The Team

We are a small but growing team of Construction PI Underwriters, reporting into the wider Casualty & Finpro Team in the UK. We are looking for a candidate who will drive the growth of the portfolio whilst also taking keen consideration of the overall profitability of the book.

About The Role

This is a Senior UW position for someone with a broad account size experience and existing market relationships, focusing on driving profitable growth in the UK & Irish PI markets. The core focus is on contributing to the result-oriented underwriting of predominantly annual policies on both a primary and excess of loss basis, some Project Policy experience would also be welcome. The team's focus is on Professional Indemnity within the full range of Construction activities; however the candidate will be tasked with helping to widen our appetite within the PI space outside of our Accountants, Lawyers and Construction teams. We are looking for a candidate who will work with our broker partners and clients on both new and renewal business within our core appetite.

Your main tasks will be generating new business opportunities, analyzing and assessing the technical insurability in respect of exposures and coverage, reviewing cover structures, wordings and proposals and preparing quotations. You will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the client's requirements and expectations and to lead discussions and negotiations with brokers. Your broad know how of the market allows you to attract new opportunities and select the risks carefully and efficiently. Furthermore, you will contribute to project work, work in deal teams and accept special assignments as required.

About You

• Minimum 7+ years of underwriting experience in the UK & Irish PI market
• Broad network of broker and client contacts
• Strong technical underwriting background and focus on service orientation
• High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently
• Strong negotiation skills; a flair for numbers is essential
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Team player, driven, open-minded, and inquisitive
• Willingness to travel
