The team

Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It's a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit and a Weather centre based in Millbank, London.

We produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.

The roles

ITV is Wales' biggest commercial channel creating high quality, popular national news for television and online audiences in Wales.

We are looking for a talented Production Specialist to join the team who produce our news and studio current affairs programmes for ITV Cymru Wales and other broadcasters.

Full training will be given to enable you to quickly play your part in our multi-skilled production team providing technical, craft, operational and administrative support to our live news and studio programmes. We are a 7 day a week news operation and shift working - including weekends, early mornings and late evenings - is a required part of this role.

Based at our broadcast centre in Cardiff, our Production Specialists also have the opportunity to specialise in certain areas such as gallery timing, vision, sound, directing news bulletins, craft editing, on the road filming, media management, traffic, production administration or scheduling.

As well as being an enthusiastic, creative team player you will also need to demonstrate in your application why you feel you will thrive in a live broadcast news environment.

Key skills you'll need to demonstrate in your application (minimum criteria)

  • Proven ability to multi-skill under pressure in a LIVE broadcast news environment OR depth of experience and skills in the following specialist areas: craft editing, sound, directing, gallery timing, vision, or Traffic(MCR), OR a degree, or equivalent qualification (preferably in media, broadcast engineering, IT or media production).
  • Experience of editing ( on AVID or Premier ) will be an advantage.
  • Your application provides evidence of your growth mindset; flexibility and positive attitude.
  • Your application clearly demonstrates, with examples, your skills and abilities as a strong communicator; leader; decision maker and team player.

Other things we're looking for (key criteria)

  • Always positive and seeking to develop new skills (with appropriate training).
  • An interest/experience in supporting a broadcast team.
  • Proactive with the adaptability and flexibility to move between different duties and programmes on a daily basis.
  • Highly creative with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Ability to share skills with others.
  • An excellent communicator who is quick thinking and calm under pressure with strong and decisive decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrates drive, resourcefulness and resilience in everything you do.
  • Clean current driving licence.
