Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The job holder will lead, motivate, co-ordinate and implement strategies that allow all employees to contribute fully in the operational business decisions and activities. In doing so the job holder must ensure that these are managed through robust governance processes in accordance with agreed annual operating plans and targets, to maximise the return on utilised assets to meet financial targets.

Development and support will be offered to the successful candidate(s).

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assume responsibility for health and safety adherence/compliance within their area of control.
  • Control the production operation to ensure that output commitments are achieved within the predetermined cost and budget parameters and to the agreed schedule.
  • Promote the maintenance of harmonious employee relations by promoting and developing good working relationships with team members demonstrating behaviours that re-enforce Spirit values.
  • Ensure that both products and processes comply or exceed the predetermined quality standards required.
  • Ensure that all resources (plant, facilities, and manpower) are deployed to promote maximum operating efficiency.
  • Development, preparation, and implementation of the strategic and operating plans which support the Company's business and operational objectives.
  • Develop, lead, and motivate a team in line with Spirit values and the Achieving Excellence System.
  • Develop a participative team-based environment, involving all of the workforce in continuous improvement.

Qualifications

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that sufficient detail is provided on the application form to demonstrate how the applicant meets essential job criteria, as this alone will be used for vetting purposes.

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of a degree or equivalent in an engineering or business-related discipline or have a Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent in a management discipline and have a minimum of 5 years' relevant leadership/management experience in an Operations, Engineering or related Functional environment.

OR

  • Have an HND or equivalent in an engineering or business-related discipline and have a minimum of 8 years' relevant leadership/management experience in an Operations, Engineering, or related Functional environment.

AND

  • The job holder needs to achieve high levels of credibility both inside and outside the Company and this position demands substantial drive, organisational ability, human relations, and team working skills.
  • Applicants must have the ability to play an active role in the senior management team, developing and implementing strategy for the unit.
  • An understanding of operations management systems and Company financial systems is essential.
