Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Production Manager to join Syngenta in Grangemouth. You would be responsible for all aspects of operations and provide first line management and technical skills (on days) to lead a team of Shift Manufacturing Technicians in safe and efficient manufacture.

You will manage activities in compliance with site, company and regulatory requirements, e.g. SI's, HSE policy and standards, COMAH (Health and Safety Executive) and PPC (SEPA) etc. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);

  • Lead, manage, coach and develop the team whilst delivering key business driven targets.
  • Ensure full compliance with all SHE, operational and quality systems.
  • Monitor operational performance, initiate action as necessary to maintain and improve standards.
  • Monitor plant performance and materials management to ensure MRP and CRP disciplines.
  • Investigate and solve technical problems, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Efficiently utilise resources.
  • Responsibility for operational costs.

Qualifications and required experience

  • Solid experience in plant operations within a manufacturing environment in a relevant sector (Chemicals, FMCG etc).
  • Key manufacturing and / or engineering procedures knowledge.
  • Knowledge of internal HSE procedures and good practice.
  • A HNC or equivalent in a chemical or engineering related discipline (desirable).
  • Previous experience of leading teams.

Syngenta's Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre is one of our two award-winning manufacturing sites in the UK. The site was founded in 1919 and today employs nearly 400 skilled people in a variety of roles that include manufacturing, engineering, scientific and production support. Our goal is to operate "safely, reliably and cost effectively" and to help growers protect their crops and increase their yield.

At Syngenta Grangemouth we have four plants dedicated to active ingredient (AI) manufacture, and one finished product formulation and packaging plant with the most recent facility opening in May 2010.
