Job Description
The Details
ASOS has recently transitioned to a Product Operating Model, introducing product development teams aligned to product areas. These teams are empowered, cross-functional, multi-disciplinary, and self-organising, led by Product Managers and Engineering Leads.
You will join the Product Operations team, a vital supporting function that ensures both product development teams and the Product Management function scale effectively and operate seamlessly at ASOS.
The Role:
As a Product Operations Manager at ASOS, you will will play a critical role in continuously improving our ways of working across the business to create great products for our twenty-something fashion-loving customers. We are looking for someone who is excited about the 'process that is product', working on supporting product managers and designers so that they can create the best products and experiences for our customers, and work effectively with a wide range of people and teams across ASOS.
You'll be joining our growing Product Operations function, so there is lots of scope to help shape Product Operations at ASOS. You will develop a strong understanding of how information and tasks flow through the business, enabling the product managers and designers to deal with these flows optimally and creating the right conditions for them to do their best work.
This role reports to the Head of Product Operations
Key responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, although are not limited to:
- Define, operationalise, and implement continuous improvements within the product development process
- Identify and improve typical 'business as usual' behaviours that warrant automating or creating a more robust process around
- Facilitate regular analysis and feedback cycles with product and key partner teams to find efficiencies and further improve processes and ways of working
- Support our 'test & learn' approach to product development, driving the process around it and ensuring we are reaching targets
- Assist with ongoing product planning, road mapping and prioritisation processes
- Facilitate consistent and regular reporting about product performance, feature releases and customer insights
- Constantly evolve and deliver our new starter onboarding process to get new Product Managers and Product Designers onboarded as quickly and efficiently as possible
- Organise and help deliver regular training so the team get the most out of the process, tools, knowledge, and insights we have access to
- Support cross-functional initiatives like our internal Product Academy
- Help leadership to build a sense of community within the product team
- Produce, maintain, and evolve the team knowledge Wiki
- Produce and update standard templates, ensuring all the artefacts the team use is always up to date and constantly being improved
What success looks like:
- Being an integral member of the Product Operations team to facilitate the smooth flow of value, encourage innovation, and support the development of our people
- Building effective relationships across the Product and Tech department and wider ASOS
- Working in partnership with Product and Tech Leaders and their teams
Qualifications
About You
- Previous experience in product operations, product management, or an operational role that worked closely with product, business, and engineering teams
- Affinity for process and systems thinking
- Experience defining and implementing cross-functional processes
- Experience with Agile ways of working and artefacts
- Data analysis and business reporting experience
- The ability to work closely with people across engineering, marketing, commercial and finance
- A curious mind that enables you to self-learn about new operational or problem areas
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate equally well autonomously or collaboratively to deliver improvements
- A skill for taking people on a journey as we install a product mindset across ASOS
