Role Description

The Product Manager will play a crucial role in helping craft Payments product direction and enhancing customer experience within the designated product stream for Current account and Savings products, focusing specifically on the domain of retail banking.

This role involves managing the entire product lifecycle, from defining customer needs and market propositions to ensuring financial viability and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Leadership

• Develop and communicate a clear vision for their part of the product.

• Lead and inspire the team to achieve business outcomes, demonstrating strong leadership skills.

• Collaborate with various teams across the business to realize the product strategy.

• Keep key stakeholders informed on progress, key decisions, and significant achievements within the squad(s).

• Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development.

• Lead and inspire cross-functional teams to successfully execute product initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Execution

• Develop a product roadmap that balances business commercial needs, customer impact, and domain expertise in retail banking.

• Drive requirements gathering, defining complex product functionality in collaboration with multiple squads.

• Contribute to go-to-market plans and product marketing campaigns.

• Demonstrate a strong focus on delivery, ensuring that the team effectively and efficiently meets business outcomes.

• Ensure that Payments products comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Product Strategy & Commerciality

• Instrumental in driving key commercial KPIs, focusing on account balances and transaction activities. They will ensure the delivery of commercial KPI balances aligns with forecasts and budgets, while consistently meeting or exceeding set targets.

• Work with other Product members to develop financial strategies and product positioning to drive adoption, revenue, cost reduction, and overall profitability.

• Work jointly with Marketing and other Product Lead's to operationalize market strategies and plans for the growth of new customer-facing Payments products and features.

• Measure, analyze and optimise the key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementation of Payments products.

• Evaluate the performance of Payments products by tracking relevant metrics and execute marketing campaigns in collaboration with the Marketing team to increase adoption and utilization of Payment features.

• Conduct periodic reviews of non-performing areas of Payments/ CASA, identifying opportunities for iteration or redesign.

• Identify areas for improvement and optimisation, proactively Propose and implement product enhancements to drive customer satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth.

Customer Insight

• Generate actionable insights from data to guide product decisions and track progress.

• Define and monitor success metrics for the product, optimizing the proposition continuously.

• Research and advocate for the voice of customers using CASA products /Payments features, identifying pain points, and developing new features to address their previously unmet needs.

• Apply your knowledge of user behavior and needs when shaping the product roadmap for CASA/Payments

• Develop the product roadmap balancing business and customer impact.

• Create and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap for CASA/Payments, prioritizing features and enhancements based on customer value, business impact, and technical feasibility.

• Manage and prioritize the Payments product feature list and oversee their implementation.

CASA/Payments SME Knowledge

• A good understanding the lifecycle for Current accounts, Savings accounts & payments processing used by banks and FinTech's today, including banking products, integration with banking platforms, payment systems, PSPs, payment schemes, and transaction processing

• Knowledge of Payment regulations and Scheme compliance requirements.

Conduct and Culture

• Always act in good faith towards customers, avoid causing foreseeable harm, and enable and support the Bank's clients /customers to pursue their financial objectives. As related to your role, you should monitor, assess, understand and evidence how you are acting to deliver good outcomes to clients and customers as per the FCA's Consumer Duty regulations.

Skills & Experience

• Product Owner/ Management experience, ideally with a focus on retail banking and payments

• Preferred experience in start-up/fintech product teams and exposure to banking, financial and professional services.

• Strong experience in leading multidisciplinary teams to meet strategic business objectives.

• Data literacy and experience in using analytics to inform decision-making.

• Pragmatic in managing trade-offs between scope, resource and time.

• You're a product evangelist: obsessed with the end user, well-versed in best product research and development practices and are willing to share your knowledge with other product managers.

• You're comfortable working in a fast-moving company where priorities can change and processes may need to be created from scratch.

Qualifications

• Certifications such as Certified Product Manager, Agile Certified Product Manager, or Certified Product Marketing Manager are preferable.

• Graduate or appropriate qualification, ideally with a focus on business or finance.
