Description
As the Product Manager/Lead for the Origin Core team, you will be managing the development efforts of our cross-functional core team for Origin - Aurora's power market modelling platform. You will play a pivotal role in realising our Software Vision for our global Power Market Modelling community. You will work closely with Core Modelling and Software teams, as well as Regional Product Managers and other product leaders and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex projects, excellent communication and analytical skills, and a deep understanding of Aurora's software vision. They will be a strong connector who can build relationships with senior leaders and drive strategic priorities to fruition.
Key Responsibilities
As the Product Manager/Lead for the Origin Core team, you will :
- Build and maintain a structured backlog of core feature requests to inform future developments
- Liase with regional and technical experts to understand the user needs of Aurora's global power market modelling community (internal and external)
- Abstract from individual, or market-specific context to define generalised concepts and solutions that can be applied across our global product portfolio
- Specify requirements for feature developments in close collaboration with stakeholders across Product, Modelling, Software Engineering, Research, and Advisory
- Prioritise feature requests considering user needs, development and maintenance effort, and strategy
- Plan and communicate the core team roadmap, aligning with other stakeholders and initiatives to support Aurora's global product ecosystem and strategy
- Oversee the delivery of the core team's developments ensuring they meet the defined requirements
- Contribute to and foster best practices for scalable product development processes
What we are looking for
Required attributes:
- 3-5 years of experience in successfully managing complex projects that require significant cross-functional coordination and strategic decision-making
- Experience working in or with energy sector software, particularly in areas related to power market economics or renewables
- Experience in developing software projects throughout the product lifecycle
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with senior decision-makers and to manage a complex stakeholder matrix across multiple product teams
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, as well as to socialise high-stakes prioritisation decisions amidst competing interests
- Outstanding analytical skills, including the ability to translate user needs and business requirements into technical specifications
- Demonstrated ability to switch fluently between high-level strategic platform considerations and implementation details for a cross-functional team
Desirable attributes:
- Hands-on experience working closely with software development teams using agile methodologies
- Proven experience navigating centralised product development challenges in enterprise environments with high customisation needs
- Good general understanding of data modelling, software architecture, and API design principles
- Familiarity with mathematical optimisation models and techniques to simulate energy systems
- Experience in designing and implementing user interfaces for complex software systems
- Experience in developing and implementing product management best practices and training programs
