The Customer and Identity tribe is responsible for users' entry, and return, to the Chase app, as well as managing the bank's data on that customer. Our objective is to ensure customers have a seamless journey and accomplish what they want in our app, while protecting their account with the level of security you would expect from the world's biggest bank. The Authentication Product focuses on four areas; working with the Product and Engineering Squads to optimize Fraud & Authentication capabilities through continuous transformation. Working with Analytics on the Implementation of strategies and monitoring. Working with the 2nd line risk teams to ensure systems and processes are effective and sharing best practice across JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Own the Authentication technology stack for all customer groups and propositions.
  • Deliver an end to end Authentication strategy that optimizes fraud prevention, client experience and cost of authentication
  • Drive strategies using data from multiple systems and vendor integration such as device intelligence and ID&V to optimize existing journeys
  • Ensure compliance with Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements as part of Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2)
  • Identify future risks that are driven by product or channel development and mitigation of these risks through appropriate strategies
  • Work across a wide group of teams (product teams, payments, engineering, technology, risk) to ensure that key partners are aware of all of the importance of Authentication
  • Communicate effectively across teams and gain credibility by understanding end to end impacts of the authentication strategies that are implemented
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the firm including: business, technology, product management, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, and technology control functions to drive engagement with the Authentication program of work
  • Understand innovation and operational impacts of managing digital fraud & Authentication strategy with multiple input data points from a wide range of vendor systems
  • Monitor and optimize model performance by developing a strong working relationship with the specialist Risk Models team.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Authentication and share best practice across the firm

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Formal training or certifications and advanced applied experience
  • Experience in a first or second line fraud or Authentication role, in a policy, strategy or analytics specialism
  • Experience of delivering in an agile environment.
  • Experience of working with authentication strategy and authentication tools (behavioral biometrics / device intelligence / Document verification)
  • Experience in management / optimisation of fraud / Authentication tools. Eg, ThreatMetrix Mitek, behavioral biometrics vendors, and IdP (Identity Providers) such as ForgeRock, Ping, Auth0
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Solid critical thinking and analysis in technical scenarios, attention to detail and able to synthesize large amounts of data and formulate creative and innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to solve problems from first principles, taking innovative approaches to address user needs.
  • Communication/presentation - excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence business leaders in a meaningful and actionable manner.
  • Networking -interpersonal skills; collaboration, openness and relationship building skills
  • Able to work autonomously to affect change - flexible, adaptable to shifting priorities; manages competing priorities to achieve the most effective result and able to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment.
  • Vendor management - ability to understand a vendor product offering and ability to integrate into current technology stack

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Ideally will have a background in banking or consumer products
  • Clear interest in innovation and technology.
