Job Title: Product Manager - Operations & Regulatory

Reports To: Head of Data Products

Key Relationships: CDO teams, Change Programmes & Strategic Projects, Product Owners, Product Managers, Value Stream Leads, IT and Data Management, Business Stakeholders, Outsourced teams

Job Summary:

In this role you lead the strategic development and delivery of data products that unlock measurable business value, drive analytics innovation, and ensure alignment to enterprise data strategy and governance.

The role orchestrates cross-functional squads (engineering, architecture, data governance, analytics) and guides Product Owners across a portfolio of data products (e.g., curated datasets, data APIs, semantic layers, reporting/MI, ML enablement) serving core insurance domains.

This role translates business outcomes into product vision and roadmaps, structures demand and priorities, embeds regulatory and control frameworks, and ensures adoption and benefits realization. The role will specialize in the Operations & Regulatory domain.

The role requires close collaboration with business units, data / change leadership and outsourced partners to unlock the value of data assets, drive innovation, and support decision-making through advanced analytics and AI.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Product Strategy, Delivery & Roadmap

  • Own product vision, domain strategy, portfolio roadmap, value outcomes, and cross-product alignment. Sets standards, prioritization criteria, and governance expectations. Accountable for adoption and benefits.
  • Lead / Partner with Product Owners to translate strategy into prioritized backlogs, acceptance criteria, and release plans.
  • Ensure delivery practices (Agile/Scrum/Kanban), NFRs (performance, governance, resilience, privacy-by-design), and control frameworks (quality, metadata, lineage) are embedded.
  • Identify opportunities for data-driven innovation across the underwriting lifecycle including, claims, pricing, and customer engagement.

Value Realisation

  • Quantify and measure outcomes (e.g., loss ratio improvement, leakage reduction, campaign ROI uplift, cycle-time reduction).
  • Maintain product-level scorecards and dashboards tracking usage, quality, SLA performance, and business impact.

Vendor & Outsourced Partner Management

  • Ensure partner deliverables meet standards, SLAs, and regulatory controls; participate in QBRs and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain clear RACI and handoffs across build/run.

Data Frameworks & Compliance

  • Integrate governance standards for data quality, cataloguing, stewardship, lifecycle management, security, and privacy (e.g., GDPR, Solvency II, IFRS 17).
  • Ensure audit-ready evidence and traceability for controls and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure fit-for-purpose non-functional requirements (performance, resilience, observability, lineage, privacy-by-design).

Stakeholder Engagement & Ways of Working

  • Build trusted relationships with business leaders (underwriting, claims, pricing, operations, marketing, distribution, finance, risk) to prioritize demand and measure business value.
  • Drive onboarding, training, and change management to accelerate adoption and measurable usage.
  • Lead / Run product teams (squad / pod) to ensure seamless delivery of product roadmap
  • Coordinate with Architecture, Engineering, Data Governance, Analytics/AI, and Service Management; manage dependencies and risks.
  • Align with the Senior Product Delivery Manager to ensure delivery cadence, SLAs, and outsourced partner performance.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for data product issues and ensure timely resolution.

Role-Specific Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Data Products: Own products enabling our regulatory commitments (Lloyds, PRA, FCA, CBI, CID, Solvency II, etc), support operational resilience, Board reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Control Evidence & Lineage: Ensure end-to-end lineage, certification, data quality rules, reconciliations, and retention/records management.
  • Process & Cost Efficiency: Drive process mining/automation, reduce manual reconciliations, and modernise regulatory workloads.
  • Audit & Assurance: Maintain audit-ready artefacts, control attestation, PIRs for incidents/defects, and remediation plans.

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

We're looking for candidates who are passionate about driving data products that will help Beazley create a best-in-class approach to Data and AI. Candidate should have a proven track record of managing data products and leading teams that unlock innovation and enhance value delivery across a business. We are looking for someone who can lead and cultivate high performance products team(s), and knows how to encourage performance, motivate peers, and collaborate at all levels of an organisation.

The successful candidate should have a passion for data and a curious mindset both for Beazley and the wider insurance industry. Great communication skills across all levels of seniority and the ability to represent data internally and externally to our colleagues, and clients will also be important.

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to define and drive data product strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Experience in designing and operationalising data policies, principles, and strategic frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of relevant insurance / data domain.
  • Experience in influencing and aligning senior leaders across business and technology.
  • Proven track record of leading high performing data product teams.

Education

  • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related field; advanced degree desirable.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of data product management or analytics product leadership within insurance or financial services; proven delivery at scale.
  • Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of the specialist area (Ops/Reg, Dist/Marketing, or Policy/Claims) and adjacent functions (pricing, risk, finance).
  • Skilled in Agile/Scaled Agile, DataOps/MLOps, service management, and data governance (quality, metadata, lineage).
  • Proven experience managing outsourced delivery partners or third-party vendors for global data teams.
  • Stakeholder influence, structured problem-solving, commercial acumen, clear communication, and change leadership.
  • Experience applying AI & automation to enhance and support data product strategy and delivery.
  • Detailed knowledge of business and technology issues / opportunities related to insurance, data and AI.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), lakehouse/data warehousing (Databricks, Snowflake), orchestration (Airflow, ADF), transformation (dbt), streaming (Kafka), BI (Power BI), data governance, quality, and observability/monitoring.
  • Delivery excellence: structured, outcomes-focused, able to unblock and drive pace.
  • Vendor management & negotiation: comfortable enforcing SLAs/KPIs and navigating performance levers.
  • Stakeholder influence: credible with senior business leaders and technical teams; clear communicator.
  • Analytical & strategic: frames value/benefits; ties delivery to business outcomes and strategy.
  • Resilience & judgment: manages risk, ambiguity, and complex dependencies.
